Have you seen Harry Potter yet?! I popped on this comfy ensemble before I made my way to the cinema – it leaves enough room to fit in a bucket load of popcorn you see..! I won’t mention anything about the film as I don’t want to spoil anything, but I had a marvelous time.
I’ve always loved the mixture of brown and black, and i’d pictured how I wanted to wear my camel coloured Zara jumper before i’d even bought it. Shift dresses are my favourite, especially when they are a warm knit – I think it’s the perfect uni outfit, I can throw it on, stay warm and be comfortable at the same time.Β It looks a beauty with my usual beehive too, but I thought i’d retire that ‘do’ for the weekend, i’m not sure my hair will take much more backcombing!
And how cute is that necklace?! It was an early Christmas present from my friends over at Stolen Thunder – on the other side it says “I heart Gin”, which isn’t entirely true (don’t you think it tastes like hairspray?!), it’s very clever.
Miguel helped me out taking the pictures; we took a wander around our road to see if we could come across any new locations, but it got far too cold so we thought we’d just snap them along our street instead. Hope you like them x

lovely! i’ve always loved brown & black together.
& what pray tell is that nailpolish? it’s fab! x
I loveee that dress! The colour is so sweet. And your necklace, love it (:
I’m seeing Harry Potter this week, cannot wait. The trailer looks so so exciting!
Aw you look lovely. Good to read that Harry Potter was good! I don’t know when I’m seeing…but hopefully soon!
those shoes are great! I’ve been looking for a gray patent leather brogue with no avail, perhaps I will with this brand?!
This outfit is totally adorable. I love it! I’ve always been a big fan of brown+black as well, even though my mom always told me they should never be worn together. Silly mom, brown+black is a match made in heaven! haha
Yay Harry Potter! And I would need that necklace if it wasn’t Β£30. I do love tea, but I could probably buy a lifetime supply for that money.. ; ) Lovely photos as per usual!
absolutely love the simple little dress and the bowler hat. all the autumnal colours are gorgeous. ohh la la. i haven’t seen harry potter yet but i can’t wait to see it. glad you didn’t bother traveling too far for a new location – your street makes a perfect one. looks lovely and quite quintessentially British. xx
They (whoever ‘they’ are?) say not to mix brown and black but I totally disagree. This is a great Saturday look!
Looking so so cute in this outfit. I hope you liked Harry Potter – I was lucky enough to go to the premiere and it was AWESOME!CK :)X
another lovely outfit, but that’s not surprising here!
I love knit dresses as well, my sister doesn’t believe me when I say they’re the most comfortable thing ever, but they are right!
and how nice you necklace?! well I’d hide the “I love gin” part as well since I agree with you, it do not taste good!
oh and I can’t wait to watch Harry Potter! but I’m leaving it for the middle of the week at night not to have to actually watch it with kids yelling during the film…
Lovely, one of my absolute favorite color combos. I wish I could happen upon such a lovely staple dress, though it looks simple enough to fashion out of the vintage fabric I have lying around…
I geeked out in my best interpretation of the Hogwarts uniform and went with some friends to the midnight showing. Was it just me or was the styling on point? I need Hermoine’s purse!
♥ ♥ ♥
You look lovely – great colours, been a bit sick of camel recently but this looks refreshingly classy. Am sporting grey nails at the moment too! π x
Love the dress! So nice with the black <:
CARRIEEEEEEEEEE.
This is such a gorgeous outfit to wear on a Saturday, love love love it!
I’ve also seen Harry Potter, and I really like it too :D:D
Emma Watson is beautiful, don’t you think? π Dobby is cute too hehe.
well, it’s settled. i need camel in my life. lol
i want that necklace too! you look adorable.
I adore tea, but since I have not tried gin I cannot say. I’ve watched Harry Potter, I didn’t expect what to see in it so I loved it! Well it was enjoyable, I really really want to see part 2. Also I love our brogues!
i need that necklace in my life! and your street’s wonderfully picturesque, perfect for outfit photos (: xo
You dress is so cute, and that necklace is so fun and unique looking!
so so so cute! simple but adorable i love it!
i do love your coat! and that necklace is wonderful! i don’t like gin either, but that’s pretty creative.
Yes, hairspray exactly! If ever I have gin, it’s drowned in fruit juice or lime soda. I’ve been lusting over camel lately as well, but I’m torn between getting a camel jacket now or a much needed navy spring coat. Sigh. Decisions decisions.
Arianne from A + B in the Sea
Love this – it’s very elegant. Have you lost weight?
i have the same exact zara knit dress :p
You look so pretty, Carrie! Beautiful outfit and I love the necklace and your nailpolish.
“I love tea” – soooo english.
Honestly, my friend went to england recently and all she ever talk about now is tea! Not entirely, but you get my point π
Such a cute little dress π
THAT NECKLACE! It’s like my life in a necklace.
I love the combination of black & brown! Beautiful dress and what a cute necklace!:) I will forthwith have a Look at Stolen Thunder!
These Photos are stunning. You look amazing and the settings are lovely. Oh and I’m glad you’ve enjoyed the film! xx, Alice π
A little bit preppy, but sooo chic and elegant. Love it!
A necklace that says “I love tea” on one side and “I love gin” on the other is something i need in my life!! Love the simplicity of this outfit, the proportions are perfect. I have this mac too! x
You look gorgeous! Love the shift dress and the simplicity of the whole outfit. xx
I love these pictures! Great outfit, and what a cute necklace!
I love this outfit! And that necklace… it’s so adorable.
Well, I can’t wait to see the new Harry Potter! Hermione looks so wonderful… I just watched the first one a bit ago and couldn’t stop laughing because all the three of them look so cute π
That necklace! Just right for me, as I love tea and also gin (perhaps you need to try a different kind – Hendricks is supposed to be good for people who ‘don’t like gin’ as the taste is less astringent ). I also love your brogues, I need something like that for work (by ‘need’ I of course mean ‘want’). x
That necklace is amazing! As a gin lover I think I need it!
You look so pretty my gorgeous girl. I love the first picture – perhaps a copy for Christmas please?! xxxxxxxxxx
Oh! I love the twist you have in your style since you moved to London. It’s still girly and cute but with a funkier side to it! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!
i love your dress!
i saw the new Harry Potter yesterday night and i agree, i had great time as well! i left the cinema quite upset though…
I love the photos! And the look you pulled is so awesome! I mean the oxfords and the hat! Very Brittish π

You look lovely here! Is your nail varnish from Topshop by any chance? I have one from there that looks identical! xx
The hat! The dress! The necklace! The shoes! They are all working together perfectly to create your wonderful ensemble.
P.S. Those shoes are really to die for.

Hello, Carrie!
You look great, as always! What a lovely outfit! I especially like the hat, the dress and your beautiful nail polish! It looks great together, and I’m really impressed with your immaculate sense of style and taste. Also, what nail polish is it?
I haven’t seen Harry Potter yet, but I definitely will, I’m a huge fan. I’ve heard different opinions about the movie, but I really hope it won’t disappoint me!
Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!
xoxo
Antonia
Oh camel and black work wonders together! You look lovely Carrie, everything is just in the right place and the overall look cosy even if I guess it was pretty cold outside! Have a fantastic sunday π
you look so lovely! and you manage to make a plain outfit really cool with the hat (something i regularly struggle with). i love the varnish π xx
A lovely simple outfit and the tea necklace is a great finishing touch! x
I don’t think people should frown upon the brown and black combination. You look beautiful. Harry Potter was lovely wasn’t it (: Your hair looks gorgeous in this post. It’s nice to have a change isn’t it?! Hope you have a lovely day.
I loved Harry Potter. <3 ~
Quick possibly my favourite outfit of yours!
I’ve been in love with your blog lately. You style everything perfectly and take amazing shots! I love the boyish twist added by the bowler hat and the oxfords and how the color palette of your clothes match the scenery!
*Ena*
Oh Carrie you look gorgeous! How good’s Harry Potter? I nearly cried – sad or what!
I do have to disagree on the gin front though – G&T’s are one of my favourite vices π

This is such a gorgeous outfit. I’ve always loved brown & black together! You look lovely.
Great picture of you stood next to the postbox. I love postboxes as an image – they’re so quintessentially British π Like red buses, victoria sponge, red phone boxes and teapots!
Jem xXx
Love the outfit! And your hair looks beautiful in all pictures. I really should learn how to backcomb, but it just never comes out right. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong… I was wondering, what nail polish (brand and color name) are you wearing?
you look absolutely charming!
the dress is really nice, I like your oxfords too
I’ve only just stumbled across your blog (I don’t know how I’ve not realised it exists until before now), and can honestly say it’s amazing. Can’t wait to see more posts from you x
Lovely outfit, as always. I adore that ‘I HEART TEA’ necklace as it relates to me directly! Haha. I’ve just realised that I’ve followed blog since 08! Wow!
Lovely outfit, and I have to agree with all the other tea pendant lovers too! Adds a great quirky touch. I wish I had the patience to get my nails looking that nice, mine always end up so smudgy. x
Just subscribed to your very beautiful blog. Love your look. Vicky x
Beautifull as usual π
as much as i love your outfit i must say it’s great to see you again with your hair down! beehive looks nice on you too, but i like you more with your hair down π
I love the color combination here– and the Harry Potter movie was so much fun! I can’t wait for the next one to come out in theatres —
OMG HARRY POTTER WAS SO GOOD!! i love harry potter, so glad you do too π
I agree, brown and black can look great! I hate it when people say that it’s “wrong” to match those two colours. It all depends on how you wear it (and you wear it well!) π
all of your photos are so artistic and gorgeous. i love them. You look great!
Nice nice nice, brown and black always looks so classy and grown up! Love the necklace too, I DO heart gin!
You’re so vain. What makes you think people give a toss about what you wore?!
