Kew Gardens

Palm House

On Saturday, Miguel and I took the tube down to the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. Aside from the obvious plants and trees, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but was really blown away with how large, and beautiful the place is. I was gasping and pointing at all manner of things, and despite the huge queue at the entrance, the gardens were large enough that you could easily get lost on your own without coming across another person, making it feel like some beautiful landscape that only you had discovered.

My favourite bits to visit were the large glasshouses, inparticular Palm House pictured above, which was built in the 1800s. I felt like I was on holiday as soon as I stepped inside because of the humidity! Another favourite was the beautiful lakes that house the wildlife – as you can see we made friends with a swan! I was a little snap-happy as everything was so beautiful, and we still didn’t get to see everything in the hours we spent wandering around.

I kept saying to Miguel how the place was a style bloggers heaven..there were beautiful backdrops a’plenty..not to mention the  cake at the cafe ; ) I’m determined to make a return trip with a picnic basket on a sunny day. Sounds like such a “whimsical” cliche I know, but if there is any place to indulge in that, it’s at Kew!

As for my outfit, I was wearing a dress from French Connection, and some lovely new Jeffrey Campbell flats that were a gift from Zalando. My bag is a Mulberry Neely.

P.S - I totally paid for rolling around in the grass (see last photo..) as I’ve come up with little itchy bites everywhere. Oops!!

P.P.S - I’ve just started a new category titled “Things to do in London” for recommendations like this so you can find them all in one place if you’re planning a visit to the Capital! x
