Summer in Somerset

The Mid-Somerset Show

Today I was stood in a field, surrounded by tractors, cows, and tents full of ‘prizewinning’ oversized vegetables, watching The Wurzels (..”I’ve got a brand new combine-harvester”? Anybody? No?..). And after living in London for the past couple of years, I couldn’t help but think that if I brought any of my friends along, they’d find it rather odd – all the “ohh-arr”ing and cider drinking. Still, I suppose each county must have it’s own, slightly embarrassing (but loveable all the same!) equivalent, right?

My favourite part has to be looking at the rabbits and poultry – sounds strange, but there are some beautiful birds that almost look like they are in costume – check out this guy – he was probably one of the most fashionable people at the show. Although if you’re into that English ‘heritage’ look, there were wax jackets a-plenty ; )

My mum told me I looked the part in my gingham – a bit like the lid of jam jar I suppose! The top was just a few dollars from a thrift store in Vegas, with a skirt from American Apparel and a bag from Primark.

Oh, and I hope I haven’t made your mouths water too much with all my pictures of food! People must have thought I was odd taking pictures of cheese! Perhaps I should enter them in the photography competition next year and try my luck at winning the grand prize of £3!! x
