The Mid-Somerset Show
Today I was stood in a field, surrounded by tractors, cows, and tents full of ‘prizewinning’ oversized vegetables, watching The Wurzels (..”I’ve got a brand new combine-harvester”? Anybody? No?..). And after living in London for the past couple of years, I couldn’t help but think that if I brought any of my friends along, they’d find it rather odd – all the “ohh-arr”ing and cider drinking. Still, I suppose each county must have it’s own, slightly embarrassing (but loveable all the same!) equivalent, right?
My favourite part has to be looking at the rabbits and poultry – sounds strange, but there are some beautiful birds that almost look like they are in costume – check out this guy – he was probably one of the most fashionable people at the show. Although if you’re into that English ‘heritage’ look, there were wax jackets a-plenty ; )
My mum told me I looked the part in my gingham – a bit like the lid of jam jar I suppose! The top was just a few dollars from a thrift store in Vegas, with a skirt from American Apparel and a bag from Primark.
Oh, and I hope I haven’t made your mouths water too much with all my pictures of food! People must have thought I was odd taking pictures of cheese! Perhaps I should enter them in the photography competition next year and try my luck at winning the grand prize of £3!! x

Such an adorable post Carrie – and I don’t think it’s strange at all, I love it! And that bunny is so cute I “aww”ed out loud at my desk!
Briony xx
What completely beautiful photos! You look adorable, I love your skirt.

With the weather changable in LDN it was so nice to see clips of a real English summer. A cute post
See I’m completely in love with the country and miss it all so much whenever I live in a city
Summer fetes, watching cricket matches, agricultural shows – I enjoy them all! Lol.
The bunny is incredibly cute – as is the beautiful cow!
Your bag is fabulous!
Jem xXx
Ohh it all looks so beautiful! Though it could be because I’m slightly obsessive over cider! X
I really love the pictures of the cow and bunny! They’re so cute–this is making me more excited–somewhat–for rural living again. Absolutely adore your outfit here too. Do I recognize the Next sunglasses?
Gorgeous, gorgeous photos! x
Such mouth-watering captures of the food, and the animals are such a delight! You look so pretty and picnic-chic! The skirt is such a beautiful, rich hue on you.

ps : can i take this bunny away with me?
Why are you so beautiful?
And btw love your blog <3
The Somerset fair looks infinitely more charming than the country fairs near my hometown (still fun but less classy- we had more demolition derbies and cattle prizes than cute bunnies and turkish delight…).
As always, gorgeous photographs!
I love these pics, looks like you had a good time and has given me a few holiday ideas for next year!
xo
Fab photos – looks like fun – I want to go next year! Love the bunny photo! x
These pictures are gorgeous, beautiful photography – and I love your outfit! I live in the middle of nowhere so I’m used to county shows, I agree with you I don’t know if the city folk can quite have the same enthusiasm for them! x
Such lovely pictures! I’m in love with them
Such beautiful pics and you look amazing!
I love hanging out in the country every now and then- my dad’s from Cprnwall and some of my happiest memories are of me and my family staying in a cottage on a farm, feeding donkeys and petting baby chicks
Looks like a lovely day, and as always, great outfit!
xx
This is why I miss living in England – I used to love these type of events. Unfortunately in Scotland there are not too many.
I do know the combine harvester song, so you are not alone
You look so lovely Carrie and the pictures are great. I wouldn’t mind visiting Somerset after seeing these, sometimes London can be “too much”.
Beautiful photos and lovely outfit. Looks like Somerset isn’t that different from Hampshire! I am desperate for a bowl of strawberries and cream now! xo
Beautiful pictures
Yay for the West Country! I miss it from when I was at uni in Exeter (I know it’s Devon, but it’s still west!!). Bring on the ooh aars and cider by the bucketload!
I love that last photo of you, you look so cute! I want to cuddle that rabbit, its so adorable!
Carmen Ri.
Awww it looks like such a fun fair, I love local events like that and that bunny is so adorable xoxo
Sounds perfect to me
I love the pictures. I feel a little weird, too when I take pictures of food and things and people just look at you thinking: why would someone ever take a picture of this?!
But please don’t worry about it because I want to see more pictures
By the way: Lovely outfit as always!
This is so beautiful, true British vibes! I’ll have to come and visit Somerset sometime, it looks so lovely!

I don’t think I’ve ever been to a fair that has been that pretty! All the ones in my home town are more like a scary carnival with creepy people and smells like wet hay.
Wonderful photographs ! You look cute <3 xo nadine from ballerinasbun.blogspot.com
You are so adorable! I love love those photos, especially the berries and the cider bottle!

Seriously though, I’ve been to (and entered) a few country shows in NW England and it’s fun! I love the fact people aren’t pretentious or care whether the activities are ‘cool’ or try to be fashionable. Just plain fun
