Typical!
So fate (..or my own forgetfulness) has it that I’m in the middle of the countryside with no camera charger, and an abundance of pretty things that I want to post about. I cleverly thought that I’d pop to Boots to get my Diana Mini film developed and post the prints, but alas – it takes a week to process them! They better be decent and not just pictures of my cat considering the time I’ve had to wait for them!
So, instead I thought I’d share some pretty things that other people have put online instead. Enjoy!

1. Lo-Fi London
I saw the lovely Katie post this guide to London on Twitter earlier, and was enraptured, scrolling through the ridiculously long page of recommendations. Tommy has collected cafes, markets, shops, restaurants and other attractions in her guide to my favourite city, illustrated by some beautiful pictures. I’m yet to visit the majority of places on the list, despite living in London for the past two years. Definitely worth a look if you’re visiting, or even if you live in London!
There are also guides to other places across the world if you have a peek in the sidebar!
.

2. Bonbi Forest
Everybody loves a locket. There is something about their secrecy that’s very alluring. What’s better is this selection of lockets by Bonbi Forest are hand illustrated by designer Lee May. I have one with a cat on that you’ll see on here before long. There is just something different about these necklaces that I really love. Now to find a teeny tiny picture to fit inside…
.
3. Beet Cake
I’ve never tasted Beet Cake. But this video certainly makes it look good! My friend Daryl sent me the link, knowing that I’d like it, and he was right. Although, it’s not so much the cake-making that I’m bothered with, more the beautiful, creative video by tiger in a jar. Hands down the prettiest recipe I’ve ever seen!
.

4. Wayward Daughter
If you have the internet and are reading this blog, the chances are you will have come across Wayward Daughter, Cait’s new venture! Still, I thought it worth a plug anyway – how beautiful is the collar above?! If I had a spare bit of money I’d be jazzing up a t-shirt with that beauty in no time. She also has a selection of summer dresses for sale. I may be ahead of myself, but I’m already looking forward to future collections!
.

5. 60′s Style
In my last post I mentioned a particularly inspiring Marie Claire editorial that I was planning on living by for the foreseeable future (cropped trousers and knits, please!). I decided to scan in a few pages for you so you can see what I was harping on about. Click the link below to see them and click the pictures to see a larger version.

Well! I’ll definitely be using that London guide when I go off to London in a couple of weeks, I’m so excited! Really, REALLY loving that Marie Claire editorial, too… I could easily live by that style for the rest of my days!

What a great collection of marvelous things! I love the beet cake and
Caitlins amazing collection especially! Fingers crossed for your Diana film! X
ahhh…so typical…but at least then you are forced to appreciate the world without a camera lens. I’ve noticed it can be really relieving when you come to terms with it
Wow, what a lovely set of pitcures from Marie Claire! I had the un-charged camera problem this week, but didn’t get around it as well as you x
Argh! Nothing more annoying than being somewhere picturesque with no way of snapping a few pictures!
There is something about lockets – I’ve been collecting them for a while now and the novelty never wears off. Apparently there is also a novel about a locket? Must search that out at some point on Amazon!

Thanks for sharing that London Guide! I might live there one day
And oh, I need a cat locket so so so much. I love cats and I love lockets, so this is pretty perfect. xx

Oh wow those lockets are just beautiful! I’m actually going to have to buy one right now. Just need to choose which.
Yay, I love Tommy’s Lo-Fi London guide too, it’s amazing! And I love her photography. Sucks about your camera! I’m sure the Diana photos will be worth the wait!
The Marie Claire editorial is beyond gorgeous!
“Tiger in a jar” should be making the adverts for M&S! That video was so calming and entertaining to watch! haha

My camera all together died in May and so i’ve been relying solely on the internet and my film Holga for pictures. You handled it so well.
But i’m not seeing the link to the Marie Claire editorial that you said is below….am i missing it?

Hi Carrie,
Just letting you know that the link to one of your advertisers- Roamkix Vintage- is wrong. It has two ‘http://’ at the beginning
Just thought you’d like to know so it could be corrected and your sponsor doesn’t feel put out.
Lovely post

Love that Marie Claire editorial for two reasons: 1) The impeccable styling and 2) the fact that many of the items featured in the editorial are within a reasonable price range! Thank you so much for sharing it~

Love, LOVE those lockets from Bonbi Forest. Love your blog, too!
That video is beautifully done. Did you know that pureed beets used to be put in the red velvet cake recipe to substitute red food coloring?
I think I need to attach a checklist to my camera bag for future outings because I’ve been caught out in lovely locations too with (a) a dead battery (b) no battery at all because it’s still in the charger and (c) no memory card because it’s in my computer!! Some lovely finds here..that London guide is so amazing. Who needs a boring Lonely Planet guide now!! And that 60s editorial is amazing..very you even down to the hairstyles
