Lazy Days

Scrabble

I mentioned the other day on Twitter, that whilst I’d like to say I’d been strolling along the beach or lunching in quaint cafes on cobbled streets, the reality is we’ve spent most of our time inside – Miguel beating me at Scrabble. What are holidays for, eh?!

So in order to get a bit of sunshine, we dragged ourselves out of the house for a little walk (that promptly turned into a mini photoshoot when I found some beautiful steps to pose on). When I say little walk, I mean it too, we probably stayed out for about half an hour before the sun zapped us of our energy. I’m not very good at this nice weather malarkey!

I was wearing a super-comfy (or what would be if I hadn’t eaten all those pastries) playsuit I got from BooHoo before we came on holiday – Miguel remarked that it looked a little Orla Kiely (I have him well trained!) when I put it on, which affirmed it was £25 well spent. The bag was vintage, and shoes from French Sole.

Today we’re heading out to Miguel’s dad’s house in the countryside. Remember this video we made there last year? I can’t wait to take pictures, it’s such a beautiful place. See you there ; ) x

Tourist

So, I have a thing for balconies…

You’d think I hadn’t holidayed here in Setubal for the past 5 years with the amount of photos I took when I went on a trip into town with Miguel! So please forgive my holiday snap overload, mainly consisting of hanging washing and window boxes.

It’s such a shame how much this beautiful city seems to be falling apart, with nothing being done about it. Miguel and I talked about it at length (and about how we wished we could take home all of the stray kitties too) before poking around abandoned houses. We felt like children again, especially with our backpacks on – his excuse was reference photos for a film he’s making – I’m not sure what mine was!

Still, as you can see, it’s rather beautiful and sunny over here, so I’m making the most of wearing my summer clothes without having to cover them up with coats. I was sent this outfit from Lacoste as a surprise, and whilst I wouldn’t normally pick these items, I was pleased – it’s nice to try things out of your comfort zone sometimes (particularly if you’re lucky enough do to so for free). I thought I’d go for a bit of a preppy meets mod look, but after a few pictures realised that it really is difficult for girls with boobs to wear their shirt buttons done up to the top! So instead, the look was decidedly more preppy tourist. I loved the almost nautical trousers, but they are a bit of a squeeze at the moment so might wait until I loose a few lbs to wear them again (new years resolution?!) x

LFW: A View From The Back Row

A bit more Fashion Week…

I’m currently sitting on my balcony in Portugal and fashion week seems a million miles away, but I took so many pictures over the 5 days I was there that I didn’t want them to go to waste.

Did you notice the blurry bits at the side of a lot of my images? That’s the result of being a blogger, relegated to the back row! Like I said in my post about the Mulberry show, I’m not bitter about it by any means (aside from the fact it’s more difficult to take pictures) as of course buyers and press should take precedence. But you may have seen other bloggers talking about how we all got a bit of a raw deal this time around at fashion week (God forbid we steal all the Vitamin Water in the press lounge!) and for the rudeness some experienced, I don’t think there is an excuse.

Anyway, let’s not get all serious – I am on holiday after all! The above pictures show: off-duty models, Mulberry party fish & chips, Topshop Unique and sneaky Anna Wintour snaps, backstage at Peter Jensen & Holly Fulton, Shini, Nadia, Carolina, Mattias, Stella & Matthew. Phewww, it was a busy week.

As for me, you can see what I wore each day on my Cosmopolitan blog and also see the whopping 80-something Street Style pics I took too!

Now, time to crack out my Diana and get exploring! Até breve minhas queridas! x

Mulberry SS12

The Ballroom

If there is one show I make sure not to miss each season (aside from Orla Kiely, of course!) it’s Mulberry. It’s more than just a show, Mulberry put out the whole package. The ‘experience’ began when I received my ticket in the form of a musical ice-cream wafer that made it sound like an ice cream van was outside (okay, this really deserves a picture or something) and an inflatable rubber ring. Crazy, right?

As we arrived at the queue on the day of the show, we were offered pink lemonade with paper straws and ice cream – the best queue I’ve ever been in I think!

The location was the ballroom of Claridges Hotel, which they had covered wall-to-wall with inflatable animals – and the odd neon sign to resemble some sort of British Seaside dream. It was later to form the perfect setting for the after-party, by which time they had added a face-in-a-hole photobooth, pinball, inflatable sofas, grab machines and fish and chips!

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside!

Now as a blogger (or, not a particularly important one anyway) I filed in with the rest of people in the standing section. I’m not complaining by any means as I’m happy to be there at all, but last season all I got was pictures of the back of peoples heads, so I was determined to grab myself a spot that would allow me to get some better shots.

I sneakily took my place near the rest of the photographers at the end of the catwalk and the show began. I’d like to think I was paying attention to the clothes, but in reality I was concentrating on taking pictures – it’s always the way. Also my mind was clearly preoccupied with all the Mulberry-clad dogs in the front row based on the pictures I came away with!

I’ll leave the reviews for Vogue and Style.com, but I must say that there were some seriously covetable bags and shoes! But what else did you expect? Scalloped edges and summery hues were my highlights – and talking of highlights, how can I forget the hair?! I always want to be a Mulberry girl after watching their shows, especially when there is big hair involved! x
