Diana Mini + Flash Giveaway!

Silly Question?

Of course you do! You may have seen me with my little friend above hanging around my neck in various posts, and it turns out Lomography noticed too because they got in touch to see if I’d like to offer one (a Diana Mini for the non-Lomo-fanatics out there) to my readers! Plus, a flash, to ensure you can take pictures in any condition! Way too good an offer to turn down, I thought.

I love this little camera, it’s small enough to carry in my bag at all times, and whilst I’m still getting used to using film, it’s really simple to set up. I bought mine ages ago, but haven’t used it as much as I’d have liked to as I never have any film hanging around or the money to process it. But I think that’s what makes it all the more special, those little cylinders of film are like time capsules by the time you get round to developing them – my last roll contained photos of my trip to Vegas, which meant blurry neon signs and out of focus cheese fries. Turns out I still need a little practise!

So, for the chance to get your hands on your own Lomography Diana Mini & Flash package, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post letting me know what you’d photograph with your new camera! I’m looking forward to taking mine to Portugal with me later this month and snapping some of their famous patterned tiles (and pastries!!).

Also, please leave your email address in your comment for your entry to be valid, and note that by entering you agree that Lomography can send you the odd promotional email – but don’t worry – you can unsubscribe at any time.

This giveaway is open internationally, and the winner will be announced on the 18th of September. Good luck!

P.S:- If you’re impatient, or have your eye on another camera or accessory, you can register an account with Lomography using this referral link to receive 10 piggies (worth £10!) to spend on Lomography goodies. Yay!  x

ahhh, i’ve been toying with the idea of buying an action sampler for a while now, and i already have a fisheye – so much love for lomography! a diana would be the perfect addition to my collection/addiction. i’d photograph pretty much anything, although at the moment i’m very into graffiti and fields… they’re almost binary opposites, how odd. xxx rebecca.cohen@hotmail.co.uk

I have always been fairly self-concious, feeling more comfortable behind the camera instead of infront of it. Because of this I hardly have any pictures of me with friends or boys in them, which is awfully sad. But then something happened, a year ago I met this boy and he changed so much. He helped me gain confidence and I am loving myself more and more every day. I want to photograph us.

What a fantastic giveaway! I would bring the lovely Diana with me to the university and take photos of my friends doing chemistry in the lab. I want to capture our everyday life at the university since it’s our last year there together. Everyday moments are probably the moments in our lives that most of us take for granted when it comes to photography. We always seek to capture things that are special or rare, but in the process forget that the more common things are special too.

What a great giveaway! I’ve wanted a diana camera for ages, but I already have to much cameras and spend to much money, I can’t afford it, so I’d love to win this one!
What would I photograph? I’m going to Barcelona soon, so I’m sure I’d take a lot of photos there. But my favorite pictures are those, when you just take your camera in your bag on everyday trips and suddenly there’s that situation where you know you have to take a picture. Like the house in my neighborhood, with curtains with a cat print. Once in a while there’s a real cat sitting in front of that window and I never have a camera with me when this happens. With this Diana camera, I’d do a stake out to make sure I don’t miss the cat!

I’ve always wanted a diana because I find that analogue pictures are a lot more beautiful and charming than the photos taken with a digital camera. So what would I photograph? There’s only really one thing I would like to photograph, and that’s the boy I fancy. I’ve had my eye on him for a long time, but I don’t know him at all. However, this last week I’ve actually spoken to him twice. I’m trying not to get my hopes up too high, but my heart is beating it’s way out of me every time I think of him. He has the prettiest curls I’ve seen, and his bone structure is amazing. I probably wouldn’t dare asking him if I could take his picture but if I win this camera, I will ask, that’s a promise!

Why yes, I would LOVE a diana mini!

I live in Montreal and, walking around, I’m constantly noticing gorgeous front doors on all of the old Victorian houses. So my first set would be quite architecture focused, but I always love taking pictures of my friends the most.

I would love to win this! I’m learning how to use my dad’s dslr at the moment, but the idea of using a film camera, and having to wait to get pics developed, and then being able to hold them, and store them and physically take them out and look at them would be lovely.

I think I would take pictures of my little cousins, doing everyday things…nothing posed, but a documentation of them acting naturally. Wonderful souvineers for their parents and for themselves when they are older.
I like the idea of showing them how to take pictures as well. I think a film camera would teach them patience and appreciation for “the old ways of doing things”.

Lately I’ve been so into lomography and I’ve been thinking about buying a Diana Mini but sadly with my university fees I’m not able to buy it already. So, I have to say that this is nothing more nothing less than a perfect giveaway that appeared in the perfect occasion

With a Diana Mini I would definetly take a lot of outfit photos to publish in my blog and also I would use it to report my little trips to some places I visit. I guess I would even create a little lomo photos section in my blog. : )

Anyway, Carrie, I hope you enjoy your comming to Portugal! I cannot wait to see your photos taken here.

I’d love to have a Diana! Analogue photography is my favorite, but I don’t have a camera, so I only take pictures with my iPhone right now, which is handy I’ll admit, but it’s not analogue!
If I had a mini Diana, I’d take lots and lots of pictures. I think I’d photograph people mainly. My friends; when we’re laughing our heads off, in the park, at dinners and soirées, drunk as a skunk, exploring abandoned houses or visiting new places together, I’d photograph my cat (which never works well with an iPhone, since he’s black), my family, I’d photograph new cities and old ones, I’d photograph people I love, old boyfriends and new boyfriends, narrow closes in Edinburgh, and my little sister and the dog when they’re walking in the rain and looking miserable. But most importantly, I’m going to put the pictures up on my walls like works of art so that I can always remember the good times and even the bad, and think ‘I have my life in print and it’s amazing’. :) :)

Wow, I think this is an amazing prize! But I really can’t think of a good reason to why I would deserve it more than anyone else.
But there’s an old saying “Unlucky at cards, lucky in love”.
Lately I’ve been very unlucky with love, so I’m hoping I’ll have better luck in this competition!
I’ve wanted a camera for so long now, so I can take pictures of everything and if I won this prize I would be happier beyond anything I can possibly imagine!

I want I want! I have a fisheye camera and I’m in love with it but I wanted to have another one, and the classic Diana would be perfect.
One thing I love to take pictures of is the mother nature (everything, really) so I guess my first snaps with the Diana would be related to it. Whenever I go to a park so many beautiful things come in my way: flowers, little animals, huge and ancient trees, mini rivers or a lovely sky. Pretty things from pretty places that we do not want to forget.

I’ve wanted one of these for YEARS but have never been able to afford one. They look pretty enough anyway but the photographs they take as well are gorgeous.

I’d photograph this small meadow that I’ve just found which has wild flowers in it and, as it’s on top of a hill, has fantastic views of the fields surrounding it which will look gorgeous in the autumn sunset light – my favourite time of the year for taking photographs! I’m also going to London in about a month and I find that pictures of even the seemingly most mundane things there (like underground signs) turn out special and with a film camera rather than a digital, they will always look that much better.

What a lovely giveaway! This camera has been on the top of my wishlist for so long!

So. Living on the West Coast of Norway (and being a huge nature lover), I would try to capture the beauty of the sea, mountains and fjords around here. However, I think scenery pictures can get a bit dull if you take too many of them, so I made a list of some other things I would photograph if I was lucky enough to win:

    - Old houses because they tell so many stories
    - My little sister because she is the loveliest person in the world (when her hormones aren’t controlling her head)
    - My mother because she is so incredibly strong
    - My father because he doesn’t let other people’s opinions of him change who he is
    - My friends because they keep me sane and drive me crazy
    - My cat and her cat-best friend because they are the cutest creatures alive
    - All the wonderful moments of my life, so that, in many years, I can look back and hopefully say that I lived a great life
    - All the not-so-wonderful moments of my life, so that they will make me a stronger and better person, and I can look back with no regrets

Sorry about the length of this post, I got a bit carried away… :)

Hi Carrie, thank you for giving one of us the oppurtunity to win this amazing camera!

The things i would photograph would be as well special moments of life as simple ones which make our life a little bit more magic. Things that make me happy, things that call my attention for its beauty. It could be my cute little cat deeply asleep in quite a strange position, the smile of a friend photographed outright,a cloud with a special shape, sophisticated details of a blouse, a range of nailpolish colours, places i went by, friends dancing while listening ridiculous songs, yummy pastries, a pure light or blurry shadows… There are so many pieces of life to remember even if a shot lasts a second! And what’s fabulous is to wander around with your camera without knowing exactly what you’re going to snap, looking carefully at what surrounds you, as if you were discovering the world.

(I apologize in advance for the possible mistakes i did in english. I’m a French reader :) )

I would LOVE a Diana Mini! I love Lomo cameras.
I’m going back to uni in a week or so, so I would use mine to re-capture the university experience. I had a really awful time my first year and I’d love to start my second year with a bang and make up for lost time! It’d be wonderful to have that awesome vintage ethereal glow over late-summer snaps of re-fresher’s week, moving in to my first real house, baking cupcakes with the Cupcake Society my housemates are setting up, the play I’m in in the first week to tempt people to join the Drama societies, and buying books in the sun! The prospect of taking beautiful photos with such a stunning camera would be even more encouragement to give this year my all! Lomo photos really add that extra edge to your photos that make your memories seem even better when you look back – there’s something (as everyone says!) more “real” about print photographs – not just that they are, literally, real and tangible, but they make the event seem more solid and important than just flashes from a digital camera (as much as I love my digital camera!).

I would take a picture of my favorite items: my shoes. I’m an avid collector of shoes… I have many of them (more than I’m willing to admit here and more than my boyfriend would like me to have), all of them are quite colorful. And then I would make a very colorful Lomowall with those photos. :)

Hi, I’m from South Africa and absolutely adore your blog. I love photography and would be so honoured if I won this camera and would use it to capture my daily adventures of life as a final year school student and life in the ‘real world’ when I enter university next year and travel my country. I have about 5 scrapbooks with my most special memories which was taken from a phone camera but winning this would enable me to take the best images, professionally. Thank you. x

Such a nice giveaway! And all those comments! Good luck reading all of them!

Anyway, in a couple of months I’m leaving for Sweden on Erasmus. I’m planning on keeping a little travel journal and shoot a lot of pictures to accompany my thoughts and adventures with. A Diana mini would be perfect for this! I’d shoot all the memorable things that come across my path: the new people I will meet, the beautiful environment, the fun things I’ll do etc.. And every time I read that journal again, I’ll be reminded of the nice time over there, but then with this extra vintage and romantic touch, which is so typical for the Diana-camera and the reason why I (and probably many others) love this cute little camera.

Thanks a lot for this giveaway! xx

What a darling little camera! My go-to camera is seemingly unhappy that I haven’t taken it out in the past month and doesn’t seem to be working properly, so this would be a great little alternative to hold me over til its fixed! While I live in the Boston, Massachusetts suburbs, I cannot wait to visit my boyfriend’s quaint little college town up north in Vermont for the foliage season. There are so many farms, gorges and rural country roads that would look so spectacular through the little Diana lens as they turn all colors of the sunset! Thanks dearly for the international giveaway!

What a lovely giveaway! Where I come from, such cameras are hard to find and when you do find one in the antique shops, they are too expensive to get.
If I was to win this camera, I would finally be able to document my hitchhiking journeys and send my sister photos while we are apart. And the moments that we are together, I’d probably photograph her and the places we go.
Also, I have this idea of taking photos of all the abandoned buildings I’ve spotted while traveling, and the stories that follow them.

And, a little closer to home, I do of course have my two beautiful dogs – Amy and Bobby. They’re posers, so wouldn’t let me down for a gorgeous portrait or three!

Thanks for the amazing giveaway! I’ve always wanted to give traditional photography a go, I love how permanent and more spontaneous the photography is compared to digital, and I know this is what Lomography is all about: being spontaneous. I’d probably use it to start a quirky photography project like an A-Z photo challenge where each photo has to relate to a letter of the alphabet or maybe play around with light and funky compositions! It would definitely help give me an edge when I start my illustration degree in Bournemouth next Tuesday! But most importantly I’d make sure to take it wherever I go :)

I believe that photography is the most beautiful treasure there is in the world, because it’s able to capture the most sentimental moments there are in life… whether it’s the happy graduating moments or the rare goodbye group photos. In moments like this, I would want to photograph the most is my sweet innocent grandma before her health deteriorates, because I wouldn’t want to forget her calming presence and the happiness that existed between us. I would take photographs of people I love and cherish!

3 weeks ago I gave birth to my baby girl. It’s my first child and I was scared if I could manage being a mom, but now I feel like the happiest person in the world. To be honest, I don’t need any camera or photos which in future could bring back the memories of these days, because I know that I would remember every second spent with my little daughter. Now I and her father are waiting for her first real smile :) He is totally crazy about our baby and he’d really like to fix this very special moment. Love your blog! I would love to win the Diana and I would use it to take pictures of two things in particular- my baking adventures and flowers – to leave at my grandmother’s grave (she died two weeks ago). I wrote her a letter after she died and put it in her coffin to tell her that I will not forget her and I also promised to go and visit her as often as I could and leave her scones and flowers, though I found out later that the cemetery has a policy about not allowing certain things to be left in the part she is buried in and I could only leave things that the gardener wouldn’t need to remove (because they were going off etc). My email address is deplorable_world@yahoo.com.au and I hope you pick me as your winner!

It’s also a great great time to photograph the weather outside, the beginning of fall.. I love it. I would use the camera to capture things that may seem insignificant at the time, but will become my most treasured memories :) x

I would like to take photos of my mother. We were separated from each other when I was 4 years old, and I didn’t get to see her until I was about 15. . . 11 years later. We talked through the phone sometimes, and I used to receive birthday cards and christmas cards every few years. But I remember always dreaming, about seeing her face in person. Even though we met again, I feel like 11 years apart took so much time away from us. I grew older, and so did she. We still don’t live in the same country and every day we’re really far away from each other. Our time getting to know each other in person, has been really brief. I haven’t had a chance to get a real view of my mothers perspective of life, of her life. If I had the opportunity, I’d like to send my mother a camera like this; something that she could use. It would be so interesting for me, to have photos taken by her, of her life, where she lives. Maybe even some self portraits. That’s the beauty of photographs. It captures a moment, a time. And it lasts forever. Even if things will never be the same again.

    :)

Film cameras appear extremely charming to me. They save moments of our life, which we cannot delete in any way, photos we can’t just ‘untag’. Sure we can throw the film away, but it’s still real. Made out of paper, plastic, love and a moment we will never be able to relive. I would use the camera to go out in the streets, to shoot strangers or friends, to carpe diem someone’s life and make that moment last forever. Because at some point we all dream of going back to a time in our lives when we were happy and photographs are the only time machine we have.

    Hello there,

Gosh, this is definitely the best giveaway ever on the entire blogospher, Carrie! Thanks ever so much for the chance.

As I am studying in Paris at the Sorbonne (right next to the Pantheon), there have been so many opportunities to take absolutely amazing photos in the area. The quartier itself, the students, the school, the metro and its musicians, the park Luexembourg, the buildings… So much to be inspired by. I would most particularly like to focus, with a analogue camera, on the greenery in the city. So many plants seem to come out of nowhere on the pavement, or in cracks and manholes. Potentially awesome pictures.

Anyway, thanks once again for the opportunity and thank you for such a beautiful blog.

if i won the diana I would use it in combination of digital cameras for photographing architecture/design details. i love my architectural course and when i walk around london i love to pull out my camera and take a shot of anything I find aesthetically pleasing. With diana photos I always think there is a depication of love for the subject of the photos and I would love to add this to all the things that catch my eye. Also love the beautiful quality of light that happens with a diana :D

ah i shall dream that i win- Andri :)

I have a setting for a photoshoot in my mind, a kind of a hazy-misty-romantic; and my best friend would be a model.. I think that this camera would add a lot to the effect :)

    Hi Carrie,
I would love to win the Diana to capture my time in London. Three weeks ago, I came from Germany to London, to work here for one year. I really look forward to many exciting new experiences and I would love to have a cute little camera with me, so that I can take some photos of everything and put them in a nice album. Something you can go through when you’re older and remember the great time. :) And the vintage effect is priceless, of course.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to win something like this!

    Hi Carrie,
What a fabulous giveaway! I’ve just started my own blog (when I say just, I mean as of last Monday) and I’m a) still figuring out how to blog, and b) mastering the art of photography – slowly but surely!
Come autumn, (and once I’ve mustered up the courage to ignore the weird looks I am bound to receive whilst I pout and pose on the middle of my street) I hope to start taking more photos outside. Living near Balmoral, I’m surrounded by the most beautiful scenery and good photo opportunities are ample, so I would use the camera to get some great photos as the air gets cooler, the leaves change colour and I pull the opaques out from the depths of my wardrobe for some autumn themed outfit posts.

I’ve just started my own vintage blog with my best friend, and although she has a dslr, I don’t own, nor can I afford (yet) any kind of professional camera. We have always been interested in film and I am desperate for a quirky little film friend to take around to all my music festivals and vintage fairs (and of course the cute coffee and cake shoppes). Also as next year is a leap year I’m desperate for a gorgeous camera like this to take around for my first ever 366!

    Good luck everyone ‘^.^’

    Hi carrie!
I am really amazed on how you manage your blog and include all your stuffs and photos. Upon reading your blog since I was in Singapore last June for a tour, I was so inspired with the vintage look and how you incorporated it with your blog. If I’ll be lucky enough to win the Diana Mini, I would love to use it for my future tours and upcoming events with family and friends to capture every moment. To capture a photo is to cheat time, making every memory alive. And I do believe that a photograph stops a moment from running away, stills time, and makes it last forever.

    hi carrie,

i’m travelling around in south east asia and china right now – first time i left the borders of europe :-) . and i really would love to take some pictures with this lomocam to catch the beautiful faces of all the different people living here – espacially the faces of older men and women. it’s amazing how tiny and sweet the old people can look like even if they still have to work hard just to earn enough to feed theire familys…
i just saw an very old woman (around 70) today who carried arround hundrets of full waterbottles while hiking up a mountain for selling them on the peak – and this woman has less sweated than me. so impressive!

anyway, i really love analog photography so it would be amazing winning this diana :-) .

this the last year with my friends before we graduate, we’re all from different cities and will scatter over the world when this year is over. i would take pictures on our trips to budapest and rome.

  575. Catarina - Reply

First of all, I’m from Portugal so, besides photographing patterned tiles and pastries (like pastéis de Belém) which are VERY GOOD ideas by the way, if I win the Lomography Diana Mini & Flash package I would photograph those small things that we see everyday like colourful tatoos, traffic signs, beautiful beaches, the (oh so yellow!) vintage streetcar of Lisbon and everything that has a lot of colour because, like me, LOMO LOVES COLOUR and I really don’t know how but Lomo always makes a picture look better.

P.S.-I also believe that Diana Mini is the ultimate fashion accessory and I adore seeing it around the neck just like a necklace. (I think I’m falling in love).

Good luck with the blog. It’s very cool and fun.
