“It’s 33° degrees, and I’m wearing a bowler hat.”
My photos from Portugal are coming to an end – we returned last week, and things are in full swing again for my last year of university. Whilst I’ve been wrapped up in jumpers, hats and socks for the past week, it can’t harm to daydream for a little longer about ice cream and blue skies.
These photos were taken on a trip into Lisbon – I’d been plenty of times before, but hadn’t felt like I’d really explored it, so spent the day wandering aimlessly with Miguel. It’s was a very hot day, so I felt horrible and sweaty. As did my camera that decided to leave a strange haze on the majority of my pictures, which don’t quite do the city justice! I absolutely love the way the old shop signs remain, usually with the same business inside too. And family-run shops that just couldn’t exist alongside the commercial giants if they were here in London, like a butchers or haberdashery shops almost opposite Zara or H&M.

So yes, the weather in Lisbon didn’t really warrant wearing a bowler hat. This particular one was from Romwe.com, along with my top and shorts. I’d seen lots of bloggers posting about Romwe, so clicked over and realised they had some sort of blogger program. I signed up, as I’ve always been interested in this kind of website, but had never ordered anything before.
I picked a few of the cheaper options, which in hindsight might be why they aren’t the best quality. The shirt doesn’t actually unbutton, and I believe both that and the shorts only came in the dreaded “one size”, which fortunately was just big enough for me. I was pulling the teeny pair of shorts down all day though, and I hate feel self conscious in my clothing. The hat on the other hand is my new favourite!
I still have a few more pictures from my film camera to post, so summer isn’t quite over yet I’m afraid ; ) x

Looking amazing, the hat is sure amazing. I was there in lisbon end of august
Your pictures are gorgeous…I always love the way you edit them to look a little washed-out and extra dreamy. I’ve never ordered anything from Romwe but I love the fact that they don’t charge a shipping rate. Modcloth on the other hand have gorgeous clothes but you pay nearly the cost of the item just to get it shipped to the UK…grrr. Anyway, lovely outfit and pics
Hi Carrie. I think its great how you wear your clothes. I always think you look so comfortable in your outfits, and therefore I was surprise to read you wasn’t in these photos. The pictures doesn’t tell! I struggle a lot with this myself, and you are an inspiration.
Ops. I can see that I misspelled some words in my comment. Oh, well!

Your pictures are amazing, as usual. It’s been a while since I commented on your blog, but I come visit everyday even when there’s not new articles. It’s my little escape from reality. By the way, two months ago I sent you an email regarding a trip I was planning (I’m going to London) did you get it ?

You look so lovely in this pictures, I can’t see any problem with the shorts though, they look great on you! I absolutely love Lisboa I think I’ll never get tired of spending a few days in it. It’s just so beautiful and full of fantastic little shops (and those little delicious pastries of course).
hi! Hope you liked lisboa. I live in portugal, near lisboa. Unfortunately this past weeks, as my lessons started, I didnt have time to go there. It would have been amazing to came across you in the middle of the street!
I went to Lisbon a few years back and I found it to be absolutely stunning. I hope to go again soon… ! Great pictures, they really capture the essence and color of the city.

Oh god I’m feeling ridiculus right now x) I looked at the first picture and I thought “how funny this looks like lisbon” and then I continue and faced the “pasteis de nata” and then I realized this was really Portugal. I’m portuguese by the way, so you can understand how stupid I felt x) only then I read the title of the post, it was saying everything.
By the way, nice pictures! I’m live really close to Lisbon and I’m there almost everyday and sometimes, when I see pictures of Lisbon from some other people I realizes how we forget to value the closest things we have.
Ok, I will stop talking.
