Postman Carrie
An ode to my favourite children’s TV program, Postman Pat. Only, rather than a black and white cat, I have a black and white shirt. And in place of that bright red van, I’ve got bright red lips. I’ll explain the postman thing – on the way out, I mentioned how I felt ‘like a postman or something’ in my huge Doc Martens, traditionally worn as work wear. Then we spotted my clutch was envelope shaped, and it all got a little silly from there!
I remember my dad taking me to the Dr Marten’s outlet that used to be in our town in the hope of finding me some school shoes, and being the ridiculous child that I was, refusing to even go inside because the shoes were so ugly (I used to do a similar thing with Deli’s that smelt like cheese). But my love for chunky footwear – and the amount of style blogs that I read – influenced me to give them a go. I chose them as a gift from Zalando, and the first time I wore them, they completely ruined my feet. It seems like it’s just something you have to go through when you own DMs, but I’ve been promised by many that they’ll eventually be the comfiest shoes I own. They make me feel a little punky, and I like that when paired with a big injection of girly polkadots and red lips! I think they are a bit of a love/hate thing, am I right?
I’d like to point out that the clutch wasn’t actually carrying anything at this point. I just thought it would look pretty. I’ve always wondered that about fashion bloggers and clutches – is there ever anything in there?! Still, it’s the perfect size for documents – not that I needed any on my brisk afternoon stroll with Miguel. Usefulness aside, I’ve wanted an envelope clutch for ages! I seem to fall for anything envelope shaped – if only it would fit my laptop, it’d be perfect!
Thank you Miguel for your help taking pictures : ) x

I love the clutch and was also thinking along the lines of “what if she dropped it by accident..?” try explaining that to the postman! I love the clashing colours of the skirt and hat
I like DMs on guys more I think, I had some crazy pattered ones when I was little, maybe they scarred me for life.. x
Great photoshoot and colours. The elegant iron gate and postbox make for a wonderful storyline.
I think you’ll find that the DM’s you’ve chosen are versatile in their black simplicity.
such a neat idea, love the stompy shoes and the Postman Pat reference!
I really really love your outfit
Great photos.
I love, love, love your top!

I have the exact same pair of DMs but patent for my school shoes! They killed my first the first week are really comfy now, which is a relief! I need your hat, it’s perfect.
Like your docs, I have 4 pairs in total, two of them like yours:) here’s a tip-use doc martens shoe leather Magog polish to soften them. Sometimes I even bend and scuff mine to wear them.:D
Much love,

love the doc martens and the bag is so cute ^^
Just like many sweaters and type of shoes our mums wanted us to wear -even when we felt ridiculous with them- and specially on winter!!
Think we all have some love-hate clothes ^.^
They’re not ugly at all! In fact, they look great on you
but I found a pair in a vintage shop for only 5 euros! And they’re actually in good condition, yeeeee
they’re black just like yours, but mine are the 8-holes version (I don’t know if that’s how they’re called
)
here in Italy Dr. Martens are soooo expensive
anyway, I really like them!
p.s. did you cut your hair? they look different!
Oh your outfits never fail to inspire me, this is lovely. XX

Very very lovely outfit, I do like DM’s but just don’t they’d suit me which is a shame because they look lovely on you. I adore your blouse, I am looking for that exact thing! And the clutch is lovely too, last picture is so sweet!!

Loooove your hait+dotted shirt!
You look absolutely freakin’ adorable. Those “ugly shoes” of yours are darling! They give your sweet look just the right amount of edge. That polka dot top is ridiculously cute. And your clutch is gorgeous!

Great pics and I love the colours in this outfit, b/w polka dots and red are a match made in heaven! I’ve had the same love/hate relationship with Doc Martens myself but I’m ready to give them a try, in a bright colour or white to counteract their chunkiness, though.
First you look gorgeous! And second for your DMs, put them on and then do a footbath, wear them till they are dried and they’ll fit like a glove. And for some extra comfort and warmth you could put some woolen soles in there. Hope I could help!
so cute! I love the photo of you camera in the leaves!
I really love your clutch! I really, really love it!
Okay, now that I’ve got that out of the way, I’ve been wondering how those particular Doc Martens would look on someone. I’ve always had full out boots, big and clunky with at least 10 eyelets. The kind you have always intrigued me a little. They look wonderful, especially how you’ve styled them.

Lovely pictures!! The last one is super cool. Yeah i like your postman metaphor. I’ve also been wanting an envelope clutch for a while now but havent got it yet
I feel you on the shoes it like there so strange but… I want to love them lol. Nice post.
You were right the first time: Doc Martens are unacceptably ugly, but you did a great shoot anyway. I found this post rather late when I was googling to see if others thought they were ugly as well, and there you were. Regards from the USA!
