Guerlain Shalimar Initial
You know when I posted my photos from Paris? A few of you jokingly mentioned how I should star in a perfume ad or something, so what a coincidence and honour to be chosen by Guerlain to interpret their fragrance through my own photos – I don’t often have such an excuse to play model like this.
Despite always wearing perfume, I tend to stick to what I know, and I hadn’t experienced Shalimar Initial before, so was the perfect candidate. When I opened the box the rather captivating scent was everywhere – I could understand why it had been described as ‘the fragrance of transformation’, it’s a girls first ‘grown-up’ perfume. Extremely feminine and sensual, yet youthful and innocent. It’s odd trying to describe a smell, isn’t it? Still, I tried my best to portray it in the images.
Now the grand pink and powder blue bottle sits proudly on my shelves, ready for special occasions when I want to feel that extra bit special. I don’t like to wear the same perfume all the time, as I want to be able to appreciate them all without getting used to them, so I’ve reserved this one for times when I’m feeling particularly empowered. The power of scent is such an interesting thing, how a whiff of something can conjure up vivid memories of things like my mum dressed up to go out, or the body spray I’d wear to school because I didn’t own a perfume of my own yet. Perhaps I’ll look back in a few years with fond memories of this scent too.
Thank you Miguel for helping me with the pictures and Guerlain for the opportunity x

Ohhhh Emmmm Geee! These are amazing!! You make a stunning model and these pictures look SO professional, it’s hard to decide a fave, but the last one is very cleverly done. Good job! XX

You’ve both done a great job on this! The photos do look like an ad campaign.

Incredible photos, as usual – definitely campaign caliber. As you said, it’s hard to describe a perfume over the internet, but you’ve certainly done a wonderful job through visuals. Now to find it in a store so I can try it!
love the pictures (L)

Lovely shots and wonderful interpretation. I especially like the way you used the windowsill to showcase the perfume. Great light and expression in that one too! Congrats.

I particularly love the last picture…it could easily be the advertising campaign!
You look like a princess
You look amazing. I hear the perfume is kinda heavy but so you seem to like it and I think it’ll suit you quite nicely.
I agree, it’s definitely rather heavy, not something I’m used to either, but I quite like wearing something that’s out of my comfort zone – because then I notice it! : )
These are amazing photos and you look very beautiful. As others have said, the last shot could easily be a campaign shot!

You are beautiful!
love how you interpreted it! Speaking of Shalimar, I have fallen in love with the Shalimar Fourreau du Soir bottle, and though I haven’t had a chance to try it yet, I cannot help but feel that something which comes in a bottle that pretty HAS to smell exquisite. Haha. I need to find that perfume asap.
You.are.magical. xx
WOW!! beautiful model, shots, editing, everything. It’s a real perfume ad
Scent does have a lot of power. I have couple different perfumes and each of them make me feel different. More confident, attractive, feminine etc
My goodness, you’re just so beautiful Carrie, a perfect candidate for a perfume commercial!
I am a perfume fiend, and love smelling nice, but the bottles are what hook me in…this one would look beautiful on my dressing table.
xx Carina
P.S I want that dress! Ehehe
so lovely! i also love the soft lighting and pale scalloped dress…and the use of short depth of field in the last photo…well done!
