A Fashion Week Assortment

The Dreaded LFW

You must be fed up of all the London Fashion Week talk by now, right? I know I am. Truth be told, I have a bit of a love/hate affair with the whole thing. I love getting the chance to go and see the shows of brands that I’m passionate about, but I’m not so enamoured with the endless street style photographers looking you up and down to deem whether you’re worthy or not, all the running around and politics of it all. But still, it’s a force that can’t be ignored, and despite only attending one show this season, I came out with hundreds of pictures that not even the most seasoned of bloggers could edit down concisely. So here we have a mini mash up of pictures from Day 3.

I wore a silky top and fluffy skirt from Romwe, and shoes from Urban Outfitters, but don’t be fooled, this ensemble was covered up with a big black coat for rest of the day, as I’ve become attached to my appendages which certainly would have frozen off had I taken a more fashionable approach! I have no idea how the girls wandering around bare legged coped!

Unique

The only show that I went to this season was Topshop Unique. Whilst their utility inspired looks weren’t really my bag, I can appreciate that it was one of their strongest collections yet. I saw more than a hint of Alexa Chung in some of the looks, which can never be a bad thing – if I was 2 stone lighter and 4 inches taller, I’d be in that velvet jumpsuit like a flash. The front row at Unique was nearly as impressive as the collection – I tried snapping the real Alexa over the shoulders of a crowd of photographers.

You’ll also spot Jameela interviewing Jade Williams, or Sunday Girl, who is my new style crush. If you don’t know her, get Googling, she wears a two-piece perfectly!

The Ladies

The reason I come away with hundreds of photographs at fashion week is because of all the beautiful people! I have to stop hanging around with such stylish ladies because it’s doing my hard-drive no good! But in all seriousness, chatting with my favourite bloggers is the best bit about fashion week. Above you’ll spot Jen, Sandra and Shini (who took the pictures of me above, thank you!) who I had to capture in the golden light after the Topshop show. See you again in 6 months, Somerset House! x

Haha, I nodded enthusiastically as I read that first paragraph! As someone who I thought had dinosaur-thick skin, I was really surprised and viciously angry with myself for feeling down in comparison to all the beautiful people there. I have never hated my appearance so much, honestly LFW is baaaad for your self esteem but I still go to see all my blogging friends :) It really is the best bit! Speaking of which, you have made Shini, Sandra and Jen look so beautiful with that amazing backlighting! Beauuuutiful. Loved seeing you even if it was very brief – hope your hands made a swift recovery from that bitterly cold wind… x

Thank you for your gloves my lovely! Oh, I know what you mean. I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I don’t have the style that these Street Style photogs are looking for, but I’m happy with that. Everybody always looks the same! I’m sure we’ll catch up again soon x

Gorgeous photos Carrie! It felt a bit strange not being there this season, I definitely did miss you lovely lot! Though yes, I certainly don’t miss the street stylers and any blogging drama. Always makes me feel a bit…awkward!

O, thanks for lovely shout out Carrie. :) Was SO GOOD to catch up with you again this season… hopefully we can do it again outside of fashion week. Felt totally overstimulated the entire week.

You’re photos are SO beautiful! I’m seriously coveting about 1/4 of the looks shown at Topshop! Swooon!

p.s. obsessed with those polka dotted trousers. So cute.

Carrie I am so so in love with your hair! I adore that colour and your fringe. Do you by any chance have a tutorial for the plait-crown you’ve been doing a lot lately? I’m desperate to give it a go, although I’m not 100% sure my hair is long enough!

    Thanks so much!

oh a wonderfulpost! I really can understand that the whole fashion week thing must be a bit exhausting, and I must admit, more than the photos of the collections, I enjoy looking at the street styles, because they are really inspiring for me (and because I don’t feel like autumn/winter clothes when spring is just around the corner…)!

Its funny you should say about the street style photographers. One thing I noticed You have either got to be completely on-trend, as in not dressing for the season we are in, but next. Which is kinda ridic as it was freeeeeezing. Wearing a hyped item (i.e Isabel Marant trainers) or dress yourself up completely ludicrous. The results… hundreds of sites with the same people and the same looks. You have fabulous, unique style and an artistic eye. Too worthy I would say xx

It does sound like a bit of a bother being judged by all the street photographers. But the photos you took turned out great, using the sun and making it spotlight on various people just like on the runways. So pretty.

So many great outfits there, I would have had problems choosing as well!
PS: Are these Poppy Delevignys legs in one of the photos? I’ve seen her outfit with the blue dotted jeans everywhere lately.

I know what you mean. I love going to the shows at Milan Fashion Week, but I hate the whole politics on who sits where and who’s more important than who. I just love the beauty of the shows, while I’m allergic to the “world” that surrounds it all.

Really nice pics, thanks for sharing. I agree with your opinion about fashion shows, I even extrapolate it to the whole fashion world. I really like clothes, beauty, the artistic part…but I don’t like at all the fashion industry, consumerism…

Your photos never cease to amaze me, they’re what first grabbed my attention to your blog, and although they are not the only reason I stick around, they definitely help!

    ADORE your outfit xx

Ahhh I am annoyed at myself. LFW happens to take place right next door to my uni, and I wish I had made a vague attempt to sneak in as KCL owns part of the building.. :-)
