Spring in My Step

The Daisybank Dress

Bloggers are funny creatures, we stop and photograph our food before we eat it, carry a camera around at all times and develop our own way of posing for outfit pictures. But what makes me laugh is that these kind of things seem to trend..remember when it was all about the head tilt, feet pointed inwards? (okay, I’m going back a few years now!) And while I’m still an advocate for the head tilt, it’s the “pretend you’re walking somewhere” that seems to have popularised recently. Bloggers striding across pavements with supposed intent. We’re all guilty of some cliché – guess where I went to eat after these pictures were taken?…Laduree for Macarons of course ; )

Anyway, enough making fun of myself. Let’s talk about the dress. My new favourite dress. If you’ve got a sharp eye, you may recognise it from the Aubin & Wills almanac that has been doing the rounds online. In the perfect orange, with the comfiest shape, the only downside to this pretty thing is that it creases easily, and I’ve hardly taken it off since I got it!

And thank goodness for the glorious weather we had at the weekend, it allowed me to show it off without a coat on top. As soon as the sun shows it’s face I have a smile on mine – I was struggling not to break in to a skip whilst going about my business…or “pretending to walk somewhere”!

Thank you Lucy for helping take my pictures! x

I was so happy when I heard A&W were beginning to appreciate bloggers – I used to think they were such a stingy brand! I can never help myself when I walk into my local Aubin & Wills outlet, so now I have a dedicated shelf in my wardrobe to all the clothes I’ve accumulated from them! Also have all the almanacs on my shelf, talk about being a nerd…. That dress just looks so perfect on you, as I said at LFW (have posted the photos already as they turned out gorgeous). Hope it’s warm enough in Berlin for you to wear it – hope you got my email xxx

The colour of that dress is simply divine! And the bloggers-pretending-to-walk-somewhere thing is so true! How about the tilt-your-head-and-laugh pose? Gotta love that one.

I seem to be doing the ‘look straight forward with an intense stare’ pose at the moment, but the pretend I am doing something or looking down are also favs. You look so lovely smiling at the camera, best photo’s of you.x

You are so funny because it is so true. I have a handful of poses that I just tend to use over and over again. I am loving this pumpkin colored dress and the grey tights. This is a color combo I would not have thought of, but I love it!

That dress is lovely! but I am so jealous of your shoes, I have been wearing the same ones since October almost everyday, they’re not that shiny anymore! haha

hey everytime i see your haistyle i like it more and more, makes me think i should make a change on mine too!

Ah I adore your hair more and more each time. Ever so jealous. I can’t do a fringe unless I get a full on straightening treatment on my hair (speaking from painful, sheep-like experience! )
You look gorgeous in all of it. Hope you enjoyed the macarons!

The orange colour of that dress looks perfect with your new hair colour. I love it. You are so brave for going to the full fringe. I occasionally day dream about it but its taken too damn long to grow it out I couldnt bear it if I got it cut and didnt like it!

    Love the outfit x

LOVE this dress, and I can’t help but be completely envious of you going to Laduree to eat. I fell in love a few years ago in Paris and other macarons just do not seem the same to me anymore.

Hehe – I’m always impressed with the ‘blogger walking somewhere’ post, as I find it impossible and I just look odd. Still getting used to doing outfit posts so I’m playing it safe with the head tilt and hand on hip combo : )

Haha, oh Carrie you made me laugh when you wrote “we photograph our food before we eat it”, we went out for pizza and ice cream and my boyfriend just complained saying “how can you be in front of such goodness and waste time not eating it?” :D On the bright side, my instagram keeps track of all the times I’ve been naughty with food!
You look lovely in these pics, and Orange fizz is my favorite spring polish ;)

Oh Carrie, you look gorgeous! I totally know what you mean about cliched blogger poses and favourite places to eat…they’re hard to avoid! Love that Aubin and Wills dress, perfect colour and collar too!

You look amazing, Carrie! I love this dress on you and your hair is as gorgeous as ever. And you’re hilariously spot-on about the cliche blogger poses – my current favourites are the ‘casual hand-in-hair’ pose and the ‘stare intently at my shoes’ pose! ;)

    Hello!
    Super interesting outfit!
Spring in your step, but the outfit is made of very autumny colours! I really like the grey tights with the bright orange, they work so well together!

Such a lovely color! I always shy away from oranges, reds and yellows because I’ve convinced myself that it won’t look good against my red hair.
I’d never thought about “posing” trends, but I think you’re spot on. Although I like the “walking with a purpose” sort of pose because it creates simple interest, if that makes sense. =)
Ahhh oxfords, how I love those shoes.
