Wish Magazine: The Launch

After a week of late nights preparing everything from tissue paper pom-poms to papier-mâché structures, it was the day of the magazine launch! We’d decided on a lazy Sunday afternoon theme, where guests could experience bits of the magazine in person, such as making their own bow in our knitting corner, getting their ideal fragrance profiled by experts from Penhaligon’s, or even getting their portrait drawn by our illustrators. But I think everybody’s favourite bit had to be the spread put on – there was cake galore, the most impressive being our three-tier summer sponge, covered in edible flowers created by Yummy in Your Tummy cakes. We weren’t quite sure how to cut it, but in no time it had been demolished, devoured by our guests, all dressed in their Sunday best.

Friends, bloggers, contributors, readers and more gathered on sofas with a teacup full of the pink-hued Wish cocktail, especially created for us by Hendrick’s gin, and leafed through the pages at their leisure. Lucy and I felt like we were at our own birthday party with all the congratulations we received. We couldn’t have had a better time, and I couldn’t have been happier with the response either, as I concurred with guests that most modern magazines have lost their charm, and that a magazine where you can fill in quizzes and place stickers on your favourite items was most definitely a welcome addition! I’m glad I managed to fill a room with people who love being as childish as me – and I’m sure that you all would have felt right at home, too.

The magazine will go on pre-sale on Monday 21st, right here on the blog, and will be available internationally. Unfortunately I haven’t yet received the finalised copies (then I’ll be able to breathe a huge sigh of relief!), but as soon as they are here, there will be photographs galore and a bit more about the who, what and why of Wish!

I wish you all could have come! x
