Top Secret
The next couple of posts come all the way from Paris. No, not the hotel in Vegas, but my favourite city in the world. Rewind a month or so: I was in the French capital for the day for a top-secret collaboration with Yves Saint Laurent (yes, I was pinching myself the entire Eurostar journey!), of which I’ll reveal all the next post. However, I can tell you that it involved talking on camera about a super special beauty product they are about to launch…any guesses?!
I had a bit of free time, so my poor feet carried me to the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower and finally Jardin des Tuileries, where I popped them up on a seat and watched a french family drive a remote control boat around the pond. It couldn’t have been more idyllic. I think I view Paris through the same rose-tinted glasses that I once wore in London, every time I’m enchanted by the architecture, the accents and the well-dressed elderly couples that sit outside the many cafés. I could happily explore the city alone for hours on end!

It would have been all the more idyllic had my camera lens decide not to die on me as I arrived in the city. Of course, I wasn’t going to give up that easily and decided to be a bit experimental, and took all the pictures you see here with the lens detached from the camera (bloomin’ awkward!).
In the next post we’ll talk about exactly what I was up to, coupled with a video or two! *gulp* x

Blown Away
This was my outfit for a picnic by the lake. Now, when I picture a picnic by the lake, I see grass, a blanket, and dipping your toes in whilst munching on a strawberry or two. I forgot that isn’t the case when you’re in the middle of the desert! Surrounded by mountains, we picnicked at Lake Mead, a rather rocky affair, and not exactly the kind of water you’d want to go for a dip in, but a lovely time all the same.
We watched the fish from the marina and tried not to get blown in – my poor hair wasn’t having the best of times! Judging by these pictures, the sun has set to work lightening it. The same can’t be said for my back, which was left with a nice pink heart at the end of the day thanks to my Alexandra Grecco dress.
I bought this seafoam delight months ago now, knowing that I’d take it away on holiday with me to eat ice cream in. I’ll admit, it’s a bit of an awkward fit on me (I think I bought a size too big..more room for ice cream, eh?!), but who can resist a heart cut-out? Not I! Especially when it gives you cute sunburn ; ) And another sweet looking tan I acquired was thanks to my scallop shaped shoes. I wasn’t sure what to think of them when they turned up in my order from YesStyle, Miguel voted a big no (“they are old lady shoes”) but he clearly doesn’t understand the popularity of the flatform, as I received more than a couple of compliments on them whilst strolling across the harbour.
I hope I’m managing to show you a side of Las Vegas that isn’t as obvious as casinos and flashing lights. But the strip is exactly where I’m heading this afternoon, so expect a big ol’ dollop of that in a post coming soon! x

Too. Much. Sun
Don’t think I’m rubbing it in for those of you in the never-ending rain – never-ending sun is equally as debilitating. These photos were taken in the evening, at a standard 40°C. Where am I? Las Vegas, Nevada. The middle of the desert! Although, I’m here to visit family rather than spend my time at the slots, and thankfully said family has air conditioning – meaning Miguel and I have spent most of our time inside, munching on our favourite American treats and hanging out with some fluffy friends (if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know what I mean!)
So like my time spent here last year, I get to experience the city like a real Vegas resident; experiencing the relief when the bus shows up and eating at secret spots where they pile the pancakes higher than you could ever manage.
So, this is my ‘neighborhood’ for the next 3 weeks. I probably stuck out a bit in my heels and crop top, but I’m not exactly well equipped for dressing in this heat. Flip-flops and PJs for the foreseeable future, I think!
I’m not well practiced at taking photos under a cloudless sky either..do bear with me! *squint* x
