The Suburbs

Too. Much. Sun

Don’t think I’m rubbing it in for those of you in the never-ending rain – never-ending sun is equally as debilitating. These photos were taken in the evening, at a standard 40°C. Where am I? Las Vegas, Nevada. The middle of the desert! Although, I’m here to visit family rather than spend my time at the slots, and thankfully said family has air conditioning – meaning Miguel and I have spent most of our time inside, munching on our favourite American treats and hanging out with some fluffy friends (if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know what I mean!)

So like my time spent here last year, I get to experience the city like a real Vegas resident; experiencing the relief when the bus shows up and eating at secret spots where they pile the pancakes higher than you could ever manage.

So, this is my ‘neighborhood’ for the next 3 weeks. I probably stuck out a bit in my heels and crop top, but I’m not exactly well equipped for dressing in this heat. Flip-flops and PJs for the foreseeable future, I think!

I’m not well practiced at taking photos under a cloudless sky either..do bear with me! *squint* x

Nice to see you’re having fun out there! Think I would just like a week of 40C degree heat so I can decamp to the beach, I can only hope….

Sadly, not many beaches around here..!! Haha! We have a pool in the garden though, so we’re not too bad off : ) x

Massively love for the title of this post coinciding with Arcade Fire’s album name! I know what you mean – having grown up in Israel, I really do agree that continuous extreme heat is not exactly a walk in the park. When it’s 50C you quite literally just want to take your skin off. That said, you are looking delightful, didn’t even notice the squinting (fo’ real).

In typical English manner, I complain when it’s cold AND when it’s hot, but this is too much! I really don’t know how gals in warmer climates look good all the time?! I’m sweating my make-up off over here! x

Ahh your outfit is wonderful. Also, I am in Portland so I am definitely jealous of the weather you are enjoying. Summer here takes forever to actually show up.

    Hope you’re having fun!

I love this outfit – your beehive looks more suited than ever to it’s surroundings! <3 and you must be so grateful for the aircon! When I'm in Asia I can only just handle the 30 degree heat! Phew! x

Oh, I would take way too harsh sun over way too much rain any day, for sure! We’ve ALMOST been having a heat wave here, and I’ve been LOVING it!
But anyways, I LOVE your outfit! It’s really adorable, and very summery! 🙂

Lovely post!I think American suburbs are great-every time I hear the word “suburbs” I always think of the adorable houses/gardens in Edward Scissorhands.

Ahh me too!! It reminds me of that, the mailboxes, the white picket fences! Kinda love that stereotype! x

Really hot weather is always best enjoyed on a beach, wearing very little and with the sea and the breeze to cool you down. Having said that, I would take a sweltering city day over this miserable London weather any day! Love the post…

I think I am typically British that way I can’t stand being too warm – it leaves me wanting to do nothing but sit with my feet in a water fountain but I jump on the bandwagon and moan when it’s raining and cold! Brilliant outfit! That top is perfect for summer – may be time to show a little bit more pasty skin! Enjoy the rest if your trip! X

Oh I LOVED your Vegas posts from last year! Seriously, they were amazing. I’m so glad you got a chance to go out there again. Vegas supposedly has “dry heat” which is better than say, Miami. Any time I go down there to visit my dad I am honestly the most unattractive person around: greasy skin, frizzy hair; ugh! I look forward to your future posts! Don’t forget your sunscreen.

Gorgeous post. I love what you are wearing (and the bubble gum!) – it goes so well with the location! I’m dying to visit Nevada!

Oh no, Vegas,! Too hot, too American. There is actually something alluring in the surrealism of Las Vegas. If you will be in American for that long I recommend getting out of the heat and going up North to the Bay Area/Wash./Oregon. Its very lovely up there and showcases some of the “better” elements of what can be a frightful country ;). You look beautiful as usual though!

Yum- looks like technicolour goodness over there. We get very hot summers here in Aus. After a while you just give up on proper makeup and resort to only mascara. Everything else melts! Although powder instead of liquid for foundation should get you through.

I love your glasses, and your briefcase looks like what I wish mine would look like! is yours also made out of wicker? I had mine for 9 yrs so it is a bit worn by now but still a lovely hand bag for summer days such as these

Love this outfit! It’s horribly rainy over here in England, so though it kind of makes me jealous that you’ve got too much sun, I can feel your pain! And you look absolutely beautiful, no squint at all, promise! ♥

Your outfit is a dream! It looks so Americana it’s perfect for Nevada! I hate dressing for summer I”m so bad at it, much more of an A/W person. Those trousers are amazing, I’m going to have to look at the BooHoo website now! I hope you have an amazing time in America, I’m so jealous it’s definitely a country on my bucket list.

Wow; this outfit is summer perfection!
I know what you mean about the squinting; anytime I try to take photos when I’m back in Australia I just look like I’m in pain! Big shades are the only way to go 🙂
