Hot-dogs in the desert

Back to another of my ‘alternative things to do in Vegas’ ideas! If you drive out of the city and head towards Red Rock, the mountains to the west, you’d very easily miss the beautiful set-up at the venue for Super Summer Theater. Hidden away in the vastness of the desert (road signs warn of the wandering burros), this theatre company put on four shows during the summer months, all staged outside. A far cry from the expensive, flashy shows on The Strip! Miguel and I arrived not knowing what to expect but were greeted with lots of smiling faces carrying their picnic baskets and cool boxes, scrambling to find the best spot on the grass. It looked as if these families had come prepared with enough food for a week, leaving us look like amateurs with our hot-dogs, popcorn and iced-tea from the concessions stand.

We enjoyed the musical Crazy For You whilst the sun went down, the stars came out, and the crickets started singing. It was a bit of a novelty to be sitting on the grass in the middle of the desert, surrounded by one of the most beautiful landscapes I’ve had the pleasure of viewing.

Nadinoo’s ‘Untie me’ dress served as the perfect picnic attire, matching my minty Cambridge Satchel to perfection (if I do say so myself!) x
