Popcorn
This year we were in the US for the Fourth of July, which meant a big pancake breakfast and fireworks out on the road in front of the house. I’m usually a bit of a Scrooge when it comes to fireworks – I don’t care much for standing out in the cold on November 5th, but the US are doing the right thing having their celebrations in the middle of summer, we happily sat out watching the neighbourhood light up with fizz, pops and bangs.
So, whilst I’m a bit late to the U.S lovin’ party..I’ve had almost a week at home to reflect on why I’d happily visit the States again and again. First would have to be the food – I may have gained a couple lbs on my visit, but not without good, buttery, syrupy reason. Then of course there was the weather, both a blessing and a curse (evenings in the pool vs a red nose and headaches), but any weather granting the ability to wear a simple sun dress is good enough for me. And something rather unique to my situation, I get to visit a bit of a menagerie when I arrive at my family’s house, and this time there were puppies! They may have spent their every waking moment attempting to steal my undergarments/socks/shoes..well…you name it…but who could resist those fluffy little faces? Can you guess their breed?
In the UK, you grow up watching American television shows and films, so to be there is always a bit of a dream – I have an amazing time simply walking around the supermarket pointing out things I’d heard of but never eaten (I tried my first meatloaf this year!) and listening to the accents.
I’m already anticipating my next trip – and crossing my fingers for New York! x

Love your dress and all the pictures!
Those adorable puppies are maltese!
Beautiful photos! I’m glad you enjoyed the states so much!
Such a pretty post! I think you just about captured a red/white/blue theme haha. I think my favourite thing about America was the supermarkets. My family was amused by me wandering round saying things like ‘Reeces! Lucky Charms! Poptarts!’ like they were mystery items.
Ahhh how cute are the dogs, I want to hug them too! Your trip to the US sounds incredible, taking part with traditional festivities sounds like so much fun and I love your patriotic outfit, perfect tribute xx
I’m craving pancakes and I don’t even like them that much…
You’re so cute, I want pancakes! This dress makes me think of Brigitte Bardot !

They are actually Maltese! x
That dress is SO gorgeous. I adore it on you!
The US is not what some Europeans expect sometimes, but I think most people enjoy a visit! If you ever want to come to the east coast in the south, my English hubby and I can show you around! We live in sunny NC and it really is a beautiful place.
You look amazing!
Xx
Sounds like you had fun!
I MELTED when I saw those puppies!!! They are soooo adorable!! I love the one that looks like it’s yawning. SO. CUTE. <3 Now I want a Maltese!

I love that dress, you look so beautiful in it! And lovely photos too!:)
Fabulous photography once again and a great blog.
lovely photos. I love fireworks but sitting in the cold night can be hard, having them in summer makes sense but I do like running inside for a cup of tea after sitting-in-the-cold-watching-firworks is done.
the puppies are heartmeltingly sweet. Maltese are my first guess and I see you’ve already answered that that’s right.
Glad to know you enjoyed your stay here! I live in Texas (I once had someone ask me if I rode a horse to school, haha), but have been all over, and I can tell you you’ll never run out of things to see in this country! See you in Austin next? Shout out and I’ll tell you the best places to go.

It’s so funny that you would say all of that about America because as an American, I know that the opposite is true for me! I watch British TV shows and movies, and want to try British food! (And though it’s cliche to say it, I just love British accents!) I would absolutely love to go to London!
Me encanta tu blog, soy una fiel seguidora. Pasate por mi blog y comenta, te espero!
Beautiful photographs
