Elvis slept here
The last of my posts from the ‘fabulous’ Las Vegas! On our last day we drove around the city – I was desperate to capture the images that are conjured up in my mind when I think of Vegas. I imagine it in it’s heyday, full of stars, bright lights, glamourous outfits and prosperity. And if you find the time to pull yourself away from the modernised strip, you’ll find the ghost of Vegas past not too far away. Motels advertising ‘Color TV’, one after another on streets without any visitors at all. It’s rather sad to see the empty pools where I imagine 60′s girls once sat around, sipping cocktails in their bathing suits. Perhaps I watch too much Mad Men!

The reality isn’t quite as glamourous, but you can feel that it once existed. That didn’t deter me from wearing the most stereotypical garb that I could find in my wardrobe. My Stella McCartney inspired citrus dress has an air of the 50s about it, and the cat eyes need no explanation!
Vegas is a crazy place, and not somewhere I ever would have thought to visit if fate hadn’t brought me there, but it’s definitely got a side to it that I’m always keen to explore. The diners, old neon signs and it’s short but rich history are all reason enough to visit, even if you’re not a gambler (I paid out $3 and won 22 cents!) x

your outfit is just perfect for the place…and i love the dress

I definitely want to visit Vegas, I want to go everywhere. I love the dress, you look very pretty. xo
Ah you look fab as per usual – 50′s dresses and cat eye sunnies are just such a perfect look for you!
I visited Vegas a few years back as my boyfriend loves it but I found it quite brash and souless on the main strip. I absolutely wish I’d gone for a wander in the old town/back streets where you did because your experience looks so different and much more what I was hoping for – old-school glamour a plenty! There’s always a next time I guess
xx
love your outfit!!!! you look stunning as always sweetie!!!!!!!!!!
You’ve captured Vegas beautifully! Definitely somewhere I’d like to visit now!

OMG What a gorgeous dress!! It’s such a pity what you say about Las Vegas but I love how you’re showing us some bits of the non-touristical things you can do there
And hey! Mad Men is never enough !!
OMG – I have the same dress. I think I’ll wear it tomorrow
These are really good pictures, I love this post. You really look like one of those 60s girls, so I do imagine Vegas like in the good times when I see this despite what you say reality is.

I always see that dress on ebay with people selling at as GENUINE VINTAGE or something – I bought it from Primark for £8 last year, cheeky bandits.

I think you captured the mood really well. And what a beautiful dress.
Hey! Great pics. I’m a regular reader and enjoy your blog, but I have a small but polite request: please could you remember to state where all your clothes/accessories are from? I only discovered your lovely dress was from Primark by reading through the comments. Glad to hear it, too. Reading about expensive, designer gear is a sure way to make me tune out! Only a very small minority of people can afford or want to spend money on that kind of stuff. That aside, keep up the good work!
Ahh of course Jo, I just wasn’t treating this as an ‘Outfit post’ necessarily, but silly of me not to mention the dress, I agree! x
Adore the photos, and your glasses!!!!
Looks amazing! Love your dress, and it suits your figure so well!
