Singin’ in the Rain

Red, White & Blue

I’ve not been particularly patriotic this summer, I must admit. I saw bits and bobs of the jubilee on the telly before swanning off to America, and then caught fleeting moments of the Olympics (albeit with a Portuguese commentary), so it’s nice to be back in good old grey London for a bit of a catch up. On a sunny day, London is probably my favourite place in the world, and based on these pictures it doesn’t rate too badly on a rainy day either when you’re in good company with a bit of spare time on your hands (and preferably a pair of waterproof shoes, too).

These pictures were taken a stones throw from Brick Lane, and I was wearing one of my favourite dresses. It caught my eye on the COS website some time ago, and I was right to take the plunge as swishing about in the full skirt makes me very happy indeed. A little bit Sound of Music, and a big bit Mary Poppins with my umbrella in tow. I wore it on a trip to Paris where the weather was far nicer – I strolled with bare legs to see how long it would take me to walk to the Eiffel Tower. There I go with my wanderlust again… x

It is the best!! This dress creases easily and is a bit of a fluff-magnet but I adore it x

How could I miss the previous post? Of course because I was in Ibiza but I’ve loved that outfit, leopard is always a win!

I envy the weather of London atm, I came back to Barcelona thinking that it’d be a bit cooler than in Ibiza, of course the weather it’s exactly the same HAHA but I am already counting the days until I can wear those low heeled oxfords from Office you’re wearing that I also have πŸ™‚

You are so cute I have no words! I always try to make the most of a rainy day too with bright wellies and brighter lipstick, happy music in my ears (preferably a 60s musical soundtrack), a big umbrella and a spring in my step.

Oh, you just look so gorgeous and so British in these shots! Very Mary Poppins indeed πŸ™‚ Love how structured yet easily flare-able that classically pretty dress is, and especially love your subtle color-matching with the lippy, umbrella, and bag! x

Looking at all the pretty umbrellas is one of my favourite things to do in the rain, I even have a tendency to spin mine around as I walk!

Again, this post is so perfect. Not only the pictures but I really like that London look with a grey sky and an umbrella. You look so happy, free and beautiful. The summer here (QuΓ©bec) is been soooo hot and sooo sunny, it’s good but, I know i’m weird but I prefer rain than sun, not that I dont like sun. But I just like too much the atmosphere when it’s raining, with wind and clouds. Maybe I read too much books hahaha.

First I’d like to just mention that I adore your blog. I’m a fairly new follower and have been enjoying each post. Next, I absolutely adore this photo series, so much fun on a rainy day, it is amazing what a red umbrella can do! Thankyou for sharing and looking forward to another visit!

Too cute. It’s weird how being ‘patriotic’ works, huh? :p For me, especially when I’m out of Canada I feel more proud than when I live in Canada… not to say I dislike being Canadian, but yeah. Anyways, lovely outfit and photos.

I loved walking around Brick Lane when I was over in London and, even though I really enjoy italian summer, these nostalgic snaps look very charming indeed. And *might* make me long for cold weather a little bit already πŸ˜‰ I just need to go to the beach a couple more times and then I’ll be happy to welcome autumn colors, tights and umbrellas again!
    Have a lovely weekend, dear!

I was thinking the first photo has a Mary Poppins vibe about it and you mentioned that. I think of any Brit every wanted to be patriotic this year def IS the year and such a shame you missed the Jubilee because it was fantastic. Just the mood every one was in was just infectious. Great hair style by the way.

I wholeheartedly agree with all the above comments that cite Mary Poppins! You really have got such a magical look about you in these photographs, Carrie!
Rainy days in London almost always look so drab and dreary, and almost always put me in a foul mood. But in your photographs, I managed to see some beauty within the rain-soaked streets of my home city… Your brilliant tomato-red umbrella helped a lot too!

    Best Wishes,

    Tara
