Sunset

The Golden Hour

When I got dressed and grabbed the camera in time for sunset, I told Miguel expressly that we weren’t going to do another floaty, hazy set of images, something that’s become a bit of a habit when visiting his dad’s house in the middle of the Portuguese countryside. Pah! As if that was going to happen! I’m not sure there is much else you can do in rolling fields full of tall grass – you try not swishing your skirt or dancing on your tiptoes as the sun goes down. Impossible!

Whilst waiting for the ‘golden hour’, Miguel and I set down our blanket and thumbed through our traveling copy of Wish magazine in celebration of the second batch going on sale today! Surrounded by sheep, I’m almost certain our situation couldn’t have been any more idyllic. Silence, aside from the familiar summer sound of bells around the necks of the roaming herd. The slow internet connection is a blessing in disguise when it forces you outdoors to appreciate simpler pleasures. x

So beautiful Carrie, I’m particularly fond of those sunglasses, they remind me of those vibrant, colourful ones from the 90′s (the movie Jawbreaker comes to mind!). Also totally smitten with that dress :)
    Beautiful photos, as always!

Hi! I really love the way the sun is treated in your pictures, makes a lot of dreamy poses.
I have also a question for the Wish magazine : do you plan on making a magazine each season? Thanks for your time you can answer me at oliveetcafe@gmail.com!

I just received my copy of Wish, yesterday (I live in Quebec, a french province in Canada) and I squeeled of happiness. I made a strong coffee and went on my balcony, their was a little rain, so comfy and lets say I adore everything in your magazine!!! You are like «la main de Midas», everything you touch seems to turn gold!

Love the flowy polka dot dress! Blessings in disguise are some of the best ones! Enjoy your vacation and time with your love and keep taking these amazingly hazy/idyllic images because they’re the best type of eye candy for someone stuck in the suburbs!

Beautiful photos and location, lucky you!
I also want to say a BIG thank you to you, Lucy and everyone else for my copy of Wish magazine! It is beautiful and I can see all the hard work that must have gone into it. It is going to be a real treat to read…I’m only allowing myself a couple of pages at a time because I hate finishing a lovely magazine! Can’t wait to try out one of your afternoon tea recommendations, a favourite hobby of mine!

The light is perfect for taking those hazy and dreamy pictures! Admittedly, I do start associating this style with your blog a lot, whether it is due to your writing or photograpy. :)

Welcome to lovely Portugal! I started reading your blog a few days ago and, by chance, you happened to be just around the corner. Love the blog. Love the pictures. You’re very welcome to my beautiful Portugal. If you’re still in Alentejo I advise you to visit Marvão. That’s truly a fairy tale location…
