Life’s a Photo
Last weekend myself and a bunch of bloggers from across the globe were shipped to Berlin, the city voted by Samsung lovers as the most photogenic city. This was all thanks to their Life’s a Photo campaign, celebrating their new social-friendly snapper, the Samsung GALAXY Camera.
Whilst Berlin has a charm of it’s own, I’m not sure it would have been on the top of my list of most photogenic locations – perhaps that’s because I’m more of a macarons and cobbled streets kinda gal – street art just doesn’t do it for me (I’d love to hear what you think is the most photogenic city?!). I know plenty of people that adore Berlin, so couldn’t wait to take a closer look to discover what I was missing. We all took to the streets with our new gadgets in hand to see what we could snap, layered up and laden down thanks to the sub-zero temperatures.

The Camera
I’m a bit of a stick-in-the-mud when it comes to cameras. I know what I like, and I stick with it. I’ve been happily snapping away with my Canon 5D for years now, and as any other SLR owners will know, it’s no easy feat lugging that one around all day, especially when traveling. Being stubborn, I insisted on shooting with my 5D, but gave the GALAXY camera a good go to compare the two.
Of course, the quality of the shots are extremely different – but with a little tweaking in Photoshop, I think the Samsung GALAXY is the perfect contender for a lightweight backup. I’ve included some of the pictures in this post, hidden amongst the rest, identifiable by a little graffiti of my own…!
But this camera isn’t setting out to be a replacement for your SLR, it’s selling point is the ability to edit and share instantly. It felt as if I was using a touch-screen phone with a super cool zoom lens..the only downside being that it can’t make phone calls. Definitely worth a play with if you’re looking for a camera to take on your travels with you.
Wow. Perhaps I need to start up a tech category. I got quite enthusiastic about that! x

oh Carrie, you’re looking amazing as always (I feel I’m repeating myself a little bit but it’s the truth!)… love your cozy, warm outfit!
The photos look wonderful… I agree on you, a DSLR isn’t something you can carry around all the time so probably this may be an hypothesis to consider
I have never visited Berlin but I remember I really wanted to a couple of years ago… it definitely seems a bit more urban than other cities I have visited and loved like Paris and Prague (or even my beloved Lisbon!), but pretty nonetheless! Hope you had a great time!
Lovely pictures. Want to go home, now
You look the cutest ever!!!
And you’re selling this samsung camera like nobody!
Loads of kisses!

Great pictures, the Samsung ones really blend in with the other ones well! I, for one, ADORE Berlin for its diversity, hipsterness and couldn’t-care-less attitude, but I can see how Paris might be more photogenic
I really think Strasbourg and Amsterdam are amongst the most photogenic cities I know.
<3
nice shots.

I would say York, Bruge or Amsterdam are more photogenic!
You look stunning in the fur jacket :X

I absolutely love Berlin. But would agree that the street art is a huge part of why I love it so much. As well if you leave the neighbourhoods around the centre of town the architecture is very old and charming, not like the glass ones in the city centre.
I’d say Barcelona is the most photogenic city, but to each his own
I really like your sweater! The pearly beads make it look so delicate.
Beautiful photos! love the white out look! perfect in the snow xxx
Goodness that is such a huuuuuge bear!!
So cute.
I imagine the quality is different but I guess it is easy to travel with. And you look so lovely with that coat!:D
Well it looks like a fun opportunity
You look lovely!
I’ve been wanting a lightweight camera to just put in my bag rather than carrying an slr around so I might look into this. Great post! x
Stunning shots Carrie, just stunning. What a lovely project to be involved in – lucky girl! Never been to Berlin, but the last scenic place I visited was Bruge in Belgium

amazing photos
and I love Samsung cameras!

With good editing, the pictures turned out pretty well and it was hard to discern which were the Canon shots from the Samsung shots. The camera itself looks very trendy and perfectly sized for travel, but I’d have a hard time shooting on it if it doesn’t have a view finder… something I hate about my Panasonic Lumix Leica DMC-LX5.
Looks like you had an amazing time. Your photos look so magical.
Love + aloha,

Beautiful photos, as always! I went to Berlin last summer and it quickly became my new favourite city. xx
