Seal Your Love

Legend has it that if you and your sweetheart attach a padlock to a bridge, and throw the key down into the water below, it will seal your love forever. Beautiful, right? These padlock-adorned bridges can be seen worldwide, but particularly so in the ever-romantic Paris, where thousands of couples have etched their initials onto locks and attached them to the Pont des Arts, declaring their eternal love for each other.

This was the inspiration for Louis Vuitton’s latest fine jewellery collection, Lockit. I was lucky enough to get to road test a couple of my favourite pieces on a little Valentines date alone on Hampstead Heath at the beautiful Pergola and Hill Gardens. As if the story behind the collection wasn’t enough to capture my imagination, the dainty pieces feature functioning padlocks as clasps. I fell particularly hard for the pink gold bracelet – a piece your loved one would have to ‘lock’ in to place on your wrist using the tiny ‘LV’ inscribed lock.

If you’re a hopeless romantic like me, keep an eye out on the Louis Vuitton Foursquare page, as they’ll be sharing a few of my favourite romantic spots in London in time for the 14th! My first being this secret garden, nestled away on the Heath. It was empty on our visit, aside from a few elderly couples, but I find that all the more romantic (there is nothing like an old couple holding hands, am I right?). Whether you’re on a date with your other half or your best friend, I couldn’t recommend visiting here enough – I’m so excited to see how it transforms in Summer. x

That’s so sweet. I want to attach my own lock one day.
I love how LV has found inspiration from that.

I was blown away when I saw a preview of this spot on Twitter but now that I see more photos of it I understand even better why you like it so much, it’s perfect!! :) It looks absolutely romantic, very much in the feeling of your outfit! oh and this new collection from Louis Vuitton sounds amazing, I have always been a fan of Pont des Arts (such a gorgeous and colourful view!), can’t wait to find out more about it!

You look very beautiful but £4,550 for a BRACELET!? That’s 1/3 of someone’s wage on minimum wage in the UK! What a ridiculous thing to advertise, beautiful but completely ridiculous. I think that should be noted. I really do.

Oh wow Carrie, this is the sort of collaboration blogger dreams (at least mine) are made of! Congratulations on a wonderful pairing.

And what a beautiful, beautiful post. I love this look on you, these gorgeous pictures, the fact you’re a soppy romantic like me and the look of this secret garden (which I will hunt down in the Spring).

    Thank you for sharing!

You are so very lovely in every way….your writing is so wonderful to read….you should be a novelist……
you spin a lovely tale…… and your looks….so pretty, and so fashionable.
I can’t think of a more lovely ensemble…..and how you wear it with such wonderful accessories……. the gold
and those super wonderful tights and ballet flats together……. you are the most feminine, beautiful woman……
You match perfectly…everything you wear…… you certainly make a super statement…..
I grew up in tights, being in ballet for 13 years. In fact, mom raised me rather androgynously, so I also wore tights under big sweaters and hip length tunics and such around the house growing up. Your lovely look reminds me of all those days….epsecially when the delivery man would come and I’d meet him at the door and he’s refer to me as Miss……
Oh, by the way, I’m a guy…and I love fashion as much as I love dance.
I traveled in Europe this past fall,
It looks like you have the same affinity for tights as I have…..

I’ve been raving to my new friends about how much I love the tights/shorts look, so they encouraged me to try it myself…
and I have in a big way,….. denim cutoffs, high waisted shorts, even a romper…….
I will following your blog religiously….. thanks for sharing your lovely taste and your beauty
