Bittersweet
On the morning of the second day of London Fashion Week, I tweeted that I resembled a marshmallow in my pink, cream and mint get-up. And here is your proof! It’s safe to say that I’m fed up of Winter, so as soon as the sun reared it’s shiny head over the weekend, I made the most of it by cracking out a sugary pastel colour palette. And on another note…

I strolled with my pals Dunya and Laia over to Somerset House after the Orla Kiely presentation to witness the circus surrounding the tent. I can’t help but agree with the infamous Suzy Menkes article when I see young girls teetering on the cobbles in their impossibly high heels, showing off which invitations they managed to get their mitts on this season. Street style isn’t street style anymore, how can it be so when people plan their outfit weeks in advance to please blokes with big lenses? I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t guilty of pre-meditating my looks based on what has or hasn’t already been photographed for WishWishWish, but guess what? I threw on this skirt and jumper combo that morning and couldn’t give two hoots that I wasn’t photographed by a single street style snapper. I just wanted to look nice for myself – remember that?
So, we found a quiet little corner and played part in our own photoshoot, probably not any less contrived, but definitely a lot more fun (you only had to witness Dunya attempting to climb up on the wall for a picture and my subsequent fit of laughter to see that we take ourselves far from seriously). I’ve been doing this for nearly 5 years now, it feels so normal to take pictures of myself to put on the internet. I can see how other people might not understand – I’m used to the expressions on people’s faces as I explain what I do here. That’s why I try not to think about it too much and just accept it, reminding myself that I’ve been so fortunate as a result.
Ahhh, blogging. Weird, isn’t it? x

I´m glad you don´t care about the street style photographers. Some people have completely forgotten that they should dress for themselves not for other. You look absolutely gorgeous as always. Love your blog <3

A gorgeous and non-pretentious look.
I love this look so much – mint green is still one of my favorite colors to pair with muted tones. And I agree with you – dressing for yourself and what you feel great in is what’s most important.

rise. shine. dazzle.

Yes ! Just a cuty marshmallow !!
Your shoes are the cutest! And I also adore the color of the top!:D Brilliant
I love your skirt! Beautiful photos as usual
Just wanted to say your outfit is amazing and you look beautiful! I’m loving the pastels as I’m sick of winter too.
Also I’m glad you made a point of dressing up for yourself, I think that’s really important. I’m so sick of dressing for others, and now I don’t bother. I’m glad established bloggers such as yourself feel the same way (:
Xxx ps I’m in love with your shoes!
oh you’re so sweet!
Definitely marshmallow-like! But that isn’t a bad thing, I assure you. Gorgeous photos as always!

Everything about this post is gorgeous, love your outfit and those shoes are so, so cute!
Love Tweet xx
Lovely look – as always! It’s true more and more people dress for others and not their selves, which is a shame! I never understand either when somebody gives me the old isthiswhatyou’rereallywearingoutinpublic look – everyone should dress how they want to without giving a hoot about others, fashion belongs to the individual after all! Wonderful blog, have a lovely week. Eva x
Your photos are always so inspiring and lovely! Also love your whole outfit, so cute! x

I agree that it’s sad that people feel the need to dress up just for photographers and thus the whole aspect of a unique personal style is somewhat lost, but it is hard to tell the difference between who is ‘peacocking’ and who simply has a quirky style. I know that I personally prefer to wear big heels for my own preference, not because I think Tommy Ton will prefer them. Regardless, this outfit shows how dressing for yourself and no one else results in the best ensembles. Love the colors here!

If I Googled ‘babin’ I think this would be the first thing that would come up- you are so beautiful girrl. Also totes with you on the bloggy malarkey- sisters doin’ it for themselves! xxx
swag swag swag
I love your style! It’s an extraordinary look, but that’s what makes it even more special! I often find myself worrying about what others will think about my outfit. I have a very extraordinary taste of style too, but it’s dificult for me wearing what I want, because I hate getting weird looks from people or bad comments, cause I have very less self-confidence. I envy you for being that much brave!
xx
I can’t understand why no one took pictures of your outfit! You look like a marshmallow unicorn-princess
Mmmm i want to eat your sweater!! loves what you wrote, it does come cross a lil bit weird when i tell people what my blog is about, ‘specially because none of my friends have ever looked at a fashion blog, keep doing whatcha doin girl xxx
Oh, love this outfit but love the article even more! I feel exactly the same, blogging is kind of weird if you try to explain it but it brings me so much joy that I remind myself of that and then I don’t care anymore
<3
Absolutely love that outfit. It has a dainty, whimsical feel to it.

I want your skirt. Also, I agree with you, winter is hurting my face and my soul. I like your pastels and marshmallows.
you look so pretty!
[...] Wish Wish Wish avoiding the street-style paps at London Fashion Week in this super cute cream Miss Selfridge skirt. You can’t see much of it here, I’m just a sucker for a close up image, but it’s teamed with a gorgeous mint jumper and looks so happy and fun for Spring, rather than the dull and dreary stuff we’re wearing because it still feels so much like Winter. [...]
As always, you look beautiful!
I’ll check back here often;)
Carrie, your rings are completely fabulous!! Where did you find such beautiful and delicate bands?
xoxo
I agree, ultimately we should dress for ourselves, but I don’t think any girl interested in fashion can deny that it’s nice to be complimented in some way, whether it be verbally or by someone asking if they can take a picture.
Fashion week was a big event and I think had I gone there myself, I would have planned a good couple of weeks beforehand what I was going to wear, not with the intention of getting snapped, but to celebrate such a big event in the fashion calendar. If a fashion blogger can’t get all dolled up for that, what can you get dolled up for? I do feel it’s important to stay true to your fashion roots though when you make a special effort. If you usually wear 5 inch heels, then so be it, but perhaps don’t change your whole style just for one day – instead, show off what has always worked for you.
The fact that you threw this on that morning, just goes to show what a true fashion ‘icon’ and stylista you are because you look gooorgeously amazing and I’m surprised you weren’t photographed. I’ll be honest, I’d be a bit peed off if I wasn’t, especially if I had your status in the blogging world, but then that might explain why you are where you are and I am where I am (that last bit is a compliment by the way!)
Awesome outfit!I love the color combo:)

Greetings from San Francisco!
You look gorgeous as always ^^
Beautiful color palette! Neutrals and subtle pastels are my favs for this spring!!
[...] I just love this mint sweater. [...]
Not only do you look amazing and are you my favorite blogger when it comes to style, you’re also a great writer! I normally just look at the pictures when going through blogposts, but I always read your posts. Keep up the good work:)
truly sweet!
I think that is the reason why I find street fashion blogs/sites so boring nowadays. There is not much imagination and inspiration in them anymore, they have turned into premeditated catalogs of fashion. That’s why I enjoy far more following bloggers that have personal style and don’t give two hoots about photographers
keep up that spirit!
Ah. Love every picture! Amazing colours. And I recognized that bag since I work at Furla
