Moon River

“Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker, wherever you’re going I’m going your way. Two drifters, off to see the world, there’s such a lot of world to see…”

There is nothing I love more than a beautifully photographed lookbook. It helps if the clothes are totally hot as well, which is the case for Family Affair’s Autumn Winter collection, with it’s velvet dresses, sheer shirts and beautiful florals, all things that tick the boxes on my winter wishlist. (Especially the first two dresses – long sleeves and high necklines are my favourite!)

I know i’ve rattled on about them before, but Family Affairs continue to create some of my favourite clothing. Each piece is beautifully made (I can vouch for that with the amount of sale items i’ve bought in the past!) and the prices aren’t so ridiculously high that you can’t save up a little for that something special, and then when you get hold of it you can be happy in the knowledge that you’re probably not going see anybody else walking down the street wearing the same thing. Those are my favourite kind of designers.

I wouldn’t normally spout off anything from a press release, but somehow they manage to sell things so beautifully that I can’t help but share the story behind the images above (taken in the Swiss mountains in a chalet built by designer Nina’s grandfather and his brothers!!):

“The heroine of Moon River is holed up in a mountain house made of wood – simple and honest, in a pristinely beautiful setting with snow and mountains all around. Sitting at the kitchen table with a fire going, tea and cake and a fat cat by her side, reflecting on the ocean voyages she’s taken and enjoying the peace and beauty of being in nature.”

Now, i’m going to start resisting the spring/summer sale items and start saving for that velvety beauty at the very top..! Hope you enjoy the pictures x

I Need Fudge!

Straw Boaters Everywhere!

A little while ago, Susie posted a link on Twitter to the most fabulous website which I bookmarked straight away – vvshu.com. I can’t read the language but i’m presuming that it is Japanese and the majority of the magazines are Japanese too. So, that doesn’t exactly make for a very exciting read, but who cares about reading when you have so many beautiful pictures to look at. I spent literally hours this morning clicking through the pages of the last 3 issues of Fudge, the magazine I was most excited to take a look at.

It took me so bloomin’ long because I was print screening every other page because of the beautiful editorials. I’m not sure what it is I love about them so much – I think it’s because they are the kind of photos I dream to take of myself for the blog, and the Blythe-like girls are wearing perfectly styled outfits, often complete with a straw hat of some sort (oh how I need to buy one!). I couldn’t post all of the pictures I saved, as you’d be scrolling forever…but what I have done is hidden the second part of the post so it doesn’t take up the entire page – please click on the link at the bottom to see the rest of my favourites!

I’d love to get my hands on the latest issue, but it just costs too much from eBay. If anybody knows if I can get hold of Fudge in London i’d be terribly grateful.

I hope you enjoy the pictures x

3 Beautiful Women.

1. Anna Karina

Anna Karina is my ultimate hair inspiration. She’s the most beautiful woman – and her style was enviable too. I’ve not seen all of her films, but when I’ve got the time I’ll be ticking the rest off the list. She’s extremely charismatic. If I could look like anybody else in the world, it would be a 60’s Anna.

2. Marianne Faithfull

I’ll admit, I’m extremely fickle and don’t know a great deal about this woman, or particularly like her music for that matter, but didn’t she look great?! These pictures make me yearn for knee socks & huge sunglasses.

3. Twiggy Lawson

That hair. That make-up. Those hemlines. I’ve been a bit twiggy-obsessed lately and made my way through the whole of her thread on The Fashion Spot. Of course, she is an icon, but I had a bit of a ‘re-discovery’ and starting saving pictures of her onto my desktop again. “That is the way I want to dress”, I thought, and headed straight off to eBay to start searching her name. You’ll see the results of that little spree very soon!
