The lovely Nina from Family Affairs got in touch a little while ago, telling me she wanted to send me something, so of course, I obliged and gave her my address. The pink shorts showed up whilst Lucy was at my house, and the first thing she said was “Carrie?!! in PINK shorts? Not even I could get away with them”. Okay, I admit, bright pink isn’t my usual colour, but the girl in the lookbook pulls them off so beautifully with a white shirt, so I shoved them in my suitcase, certain that I could get some wear out of them on holiday. And they have little gold anchor-embellished buttons – always a win!
Castles and Things
We’ve found it very difficult to take pictures because of the super high sun beaming down all day long (how do you Portuguese girls do it?!) but we snapped a few whilst on a visit to a local castle a few days ago. The first time we took photos here was in 2008, you can see the post here.
I started off wearing dark shorts and a polka dot shirt, but didn’t feel I looked “holiday” enough, which is where the bright pink shorts came in!! I paired them with an 80’s blouse (I promptly took the shoulder pads out..!) that Miguel’s nan gave to me the day before, and I was happy enough with the outfit. The large collar reminded me of some sort of sailor uniform.
And, I had to include the cat because he looked so happy.
Today we took some photos at the beach, i’ll post them tomorrow! x

By the way, I was thinking of taking photos in the beach too, but I fear for my camera to be stolen (it isn’t an amazing one, but anyway…), for example if I go to take a bath in the sea.
Have you any idea to avoid this risk? (apart from not carrying it haha).

The pink shorts are divine on you. I think it’s the high waist that tames the hot pink, but they look so perfect for Portugal. Adore the white top with the large collar.

the shorts are very cute, I’d have my doubts too on bright pink, especially because I’m not a pink girl, but you pulled them amazingly! oh and grandma’s wardrobes are always full of little vintage treasures! I steel a few from my grandma!!
We, Portuguese Girls, are use to a lot of sun! And in Portugal is not that hard (I think). I was in Italy ( Padova, near Fenive) for a couple of months and there the sun is terrible strong!

Heyyy lovely vacations you’ve got there…so you went to the Silves Castle? Thats pretty nice, i live in Lagoa, wich is in the way…althought algarve is quite hot, try to live in Sevilla for one year like I did and let me know how was your summer eheh they got it much much worst than we do!
Hope you have the chance to see much more, keep away from ugly turist citys, go to Monchique for the great view (and food!!) or to Tavira Island its great!!! PS-luv the shorts, you wont see many portuguese girls wearing anything similar, i bet!
