“Doing My Bit”

Since I heard about the collapse of Luella i’ve been fawning over nearly everything on the website, firstly, because things are so much cheaper, and secondly, because I want to get my hands on it before it all disappears. Yesterday whilst doing research for my project on London Shops, I couldn’t help but pop in the Luella Store. I felt obliged to buy something, and ended up coming away with this top. It’s nearly Christmas and i’m living on a student budget, but I wanted to “do my bit” - I feel better now!
What excited me nearly as much as the top was the cute packaging that it came in. It’s something i’m not used to whatsoever; most of my clothes are bought on eBay and I know that the majority of you don’t just purchase designer labels on a whim either. I was tempted to open the bag all the way back on the tube, just to take a peek at my purchase, but I resisted just so I could document the process when I got home - oh the anticipation!! You can tell I don’t buy expensive things very often! Anyway, the poor lighting in my room and the pretty packaging made for some lovely pictures, don’t you think? Usually it’s bloggers showing you the items they’ve worn, not the bag they came in - I think we can make an exception here. Long live Luella!
P.S:- If things are a bit slow over the next few weeks, it’s because we officially have no internet, so all blogging has to be done elsewhere - what a nightmare! Posting will resume as normal when I get home for Christmas!
P.P.S:- WishWishWish is getting a new layout! And i’m suuuuuuper excited.

November 28th, 2009 at 12:25 am
Pretty! I totally know how you feel about well-packaged purchases! I thrift or eBay everything so when I buy something even mildly expensive, I too feel the urge to take pictures.

I love that you’ve done this (buying something from Luella), I wish I could do the same…. perhaps, I could save some money to get something, but it’s awful that what I’d die more for is 227.50 GBP (coats and jackets are not counted, I can’t even dream of getting one of them lol)
I can’t wait to see the new layout btw, and I love the packaging of your purchase!!

oh, that’s lovely!
my parents went to japan and brought me many little stuff, but all of them had such a fantastic wraaping with little details that it took a while to open and take photos of all of them. they want make you feel that you have bought something special even if you expend 5 pounds…

November 28th, 2009 at 5:40 pm
Packaging makes something seem so much better! I love cute packaging, I never end up wanting to open it! Except when it’s christmas, and you don’t know what it is! Lovely photos, I really like the poor lighting in your pictures, mine always end up far too bright and I never post them because of it haha. I wish I could afford Luella, even in the sale, it’s out of my reach
Shame about you having no internet, I love reading your new posts. I’m really looking forward to seeing the new layout though!
