Hello WishWishWish readers! I’m Sara, and I’m excited to be writing a post or two here to help Carrie out while she’s busy.
Inspired by Carrie’s unmistakable style, here’s my little buying guide for my latest obsession: detachable collars. I really love how versatile they are – you can update your favourite dress to match those heavenly tba numbers, and there’s no sewing required! Pair them with dresses, sweaters and plain tees… I’m struggling to think of anything I wouldn’t want to wear these with!
product details
There are so many different styles out there that we can all channel our inner-Carrie while reflecting our own unique style. Vintagey and romantic? Go for creamy lace and floral details. Modern and cute? Try Peter Pan embellished with sparkle. If you love the look but feel a bit shy, I think the kitsch plastic lasercut necklace below gives the perfect subtle nod to the trend.
If you’re on a budget, the vintage sections of etsy and ebay have loads of older haberdashery collars. I find it works best if I’m really specific in my search terms to avoid wading through collared dresses and coats, and get to the real bargains.
If you want to keep the mix ‘n’ match element with your vintage find, tacking a little ribbon to either side would allow you to wear it without stitching it to anything. Or if you’re really crafty, you could try a full on DIY!
Sadly, I’m not even nearly that clever, so I guess I’ll just have to wait for payday!

This post is AMAZINGLY niceeeee <3
I’ve had fabulous luck finding collars at yard sales. I now have at least 6 crocheted ones, several of which I’ve dyed different colors. They’re great for adding brooches to, as well.
Collars are soo cute! I always make some but never end up wearing them. I must now!
