“Where’s my Don Draper at?”
Another season, another perfect collection from Orla Kiely. I’m going to try and keep this coherent, but all I really want to say is “I want it all. I want it all. I want it all.”, as per.
I couldn’t be happier that Orla decided to show her collection in London once again this season. It’s the only show I look forward to at London Fashion Week, to the point that I do that annoying thing of talking really fast and generally flapping about in excitement before and during. I’m an Orla Kiely fangirl through and through. I embarrassingly hovered around next to the lady herself in the hope of congratulating her on another great collection, but chickened out – so if anybody from OK HQ is reading, do pass on my regards!

After scaling an impossibly steep flight of stairs, I arrived to the clicking of typewriters and shuffling of t-bar heels. A model with an envy-inducing messy beehive (and I know my messy beehives!) greeted me at ‘reception’, before I turned to witness a crowd gathered in front of an office of impeccably dressed secretaries. These girls were going about their business – taking phone calls, sorting through files and typing away, all whilst posing for the occasional photograph. Although, judging by this behind-the-scenes snap on the Orla Kiely Instagram feed, they were having a lot more fun than they let on to ; )
Where do I start with the clothes? As expected, near-perfection. Each season I’m lucky enough to witness this presentation, I tell myself that I’m going to dress in full ’60s getup every day from then on. This is usually abandoned a week in when my collection of pencil skirts and white tights need washing. Perhaps this season I’ll print out the Orla Kiely lookbook and stick it to my wardrobe for inspiration – I’ve already started by getting my mitts on the Kurt Geiger shoes they wore around the office. Now to get saving up for one of those Margot Tenenbaum inspired coats…
That’s quite enough gushing for one season. Over and out x
