Playing Dress-up

Ladylike

Yesterday my friend Katie and I took a trip into town and had a bit of a dress up session at WooHoo vintage, the shop I told you about last week. I’m so lucky to have such a friendly little shop just down the road, again, I had no money to spend but that didn’t mean I couldn’t try on a few bits!

I was unsure about this long, floral blue dress, but I was encouraged by shop owner Mandy to try it on. I felt completely Mad Men, again it’s a length I’m not used to! It’s probably a bit too classic and ladylike for me, believe it or not, but it was fun to try. I’m no Betty Draper but it certainly felt nice, swishing my large skirt as I walked about the shop.

I know the whole full skirts and cleavage thing is supposed to be ‘in’, but I’m not totally convinced, I tend to hide my boobs away in fear of them making me look larger! I think I’ll go back to my super-short 60s dresses for now. What do you think? Would it be nice if everyone wore pretty dresses like this again? x

The Heart is a Lonely Hunter

When I came up with the name for the blog, I was imagining that I’d be posting a lot of wants and wishes here, after all, that’s what the internet is for, right? Finding and consequently drooling over things you’ll probably never afford. The above ‘books’ are just one of those wishes, and something I could never afford.

Costing a whopping €1087, these Olympia Le-Tan book clutches are far, far out of reach, but they’ve got me really inspired. I don’t know if I’ve told you, but I used to study English Literature and thoroughly enjoyed reading the classics, so why not carry around my bits and bobs in them too? I smell a DIY coming on..an old book, some liberty print fabric, and a lot of cutting and embroidery later..I’ll probably come up with something far far less beautiful, but it’s worth a try, right? Even if it’s only stable enough to keep my secrets in. I’ll let you know if I ever get the time to start on it!

See You Tomorrow! x

5 Blogs to Read & Love

Leftover Photo…!

Today didn’t quite pan out how I imagined it would..I ended up throwing leaves over a former Big Brother contestant to aid Miguel on a photoshoot (very strange I know)! A far cry from the day of emails and blogging I had planned. I’ll just have to pop back on the charity shop dress I planned on posting about and take some photos tomorrow instead  (it’s very air hostess/cleaning lady?!)

Until then I wanted to share with you 5 of my favourite blogs at the moment. I’m hoping there will be at least one new blog for you to fall in love with. I love finding a new blog to read – sifting through all the pages in an evening is so satisfying (even if it’s a biiiit of a waste of time!). Without further ado:

1. A Thought Is The Blossom

Starr’s photos just get better and better! I love seeing the outfits she puts together – we have very similar tastes, and i’m always very jealous of her thrift store finds.

2. Hello Mr Fox

I’m sure you must read Hannah’s beautiful blog already, but I thought i’d mention it just in case! The photography is beautiful, and I often finding myself saving her images as inspiration.

3. Diary of a Vintage Girl

There are people that look good in vintage, then there’s Fleur. This girl takes it to the next level! I was lucky enough to meet her at the Cosmo Blog Awards, and she was every bit as glamourous in real life. She’s like a 40s film star!

4. She’s Got a Passion for Fashion

Cait’s outfits are my favourite. Again, we share very similar tastes, so its great to pop over to her blog for a bit of a outfit inspiration. I’m sure you’ll love her too.

5. Time Enough for Drums

Another lady with an amazing flair for putting together gorgeous outfits. I’m always jealous of her beautiful long hair and summery photoshoots!
